    Out there. Thatta way.
I've never received the magazine with my preorder models. They've always shipped them later. You'll get a shipment notification with no items listed. That's your magazine. They're not on time, but they've never stood me up. They know exactly what you've been shipped.

Exactly. In the US, anything that you buy as preorder item almost never ships with the magazine. Out of 30 or so preorder items I’ve done over the years, 1 (the XL Ent C) has shipped with the magazine.

Huh, for me, whenever I get a code or sale email anymore it never applies to anything but the regular subscriber releases. I think the last thing I ever got on sale was the first shuttlecraft set.

They recently had a one-day code, “Odyssey” that was a discount specifically for that model. If you haven’t done so already, you might want to subscribe to their newsletter. They send out promo codes like that all the time, sometimes with none of the usual limits.

I somehow get the impression that the STO E-F won’t be as popular due to its wacky paint job. They’ll want to push it out quickly when that happens, leading to another custom code.

    Super-rookie question here:

How do I get my hands on that V'Ger model coming out soon? Do I need to subscribe? Can you order direct from Eaglemoss, or is it best to go through a vendor? Advice?

Depending on where you are in the world you can just order it directly from the web shop, no subscription required. That's how I am doing it as well. US version here, UK version here. One piece of advice, though, I wouldn't wait too long with ordering a model you really want, as they do seem to run out of some models rather quickly, which'll only leave you with the option of getting it off of ebay for a much higher price.

EDIT: By the way, I hadn't seen the short 360° product video they have in the shop. I don't know if it's the real deal or merely a rendering, but the model looks really awesome and it almost looks like they have painted it with some sort of fluorescent color. Interesting!

Thank you! Yes it definitely looks cool. In fact if you were go back and look, i've actually been hoping for this particular model for a long time. I'm really excited about grabbing one. I will take your advice and get on it so I don't get caught behind!

The Majority of the Codes that get released are only for regular items, but once and a while Eaglemoss does a special that can be used for anything (usually like 10 or 15% off). Often times they are 4 hour sales, that sort of thing that you can easily miss (I know I usually do).

It always amazed me that they did these really obscure designs as releases, but major ships from the movies (V'Ger, Scimitar, Son'a ships, etc) don't get made.

I'd much rather own the Scimitar than a model made from a concept drawing of a Pakled Mining Shuttle, or whatever.

V'Ger was an odd one since the DVD remastering team already put together a full CG model that could have been used to 3D print a master in relatively short order. Provided, of course, the model didn't get lost in the past decade since it was worked on. Don't know the details of that particular project.

The difficulty with the Son'a ships is well known, w/ the models disappearing or getting corrupted or something like that. They had to basically be built from scratch, much like the Norway class from FC had to be.

IIRC, the Scimitar was having technical problems in a similar way that the Narada would have, leading Eaglemoss to scuttle any hope of making a model of the latter. Lots of details and pointy bits make for a difficult physical model in a reasonably large enough scale that would do it justice without having said pointy bits break off in shipping (much like what's happening with the Disco Klingon "house" ships). They also have to weigh how much money to invest in the design, as well as cost of the final production size, vs how much interest there would be in such a ship to recover the initial R&D investment.

Personally I couldn't give a toss about any models from Insurrection or Nemesis (Data's scoutship and the Valdore being the two exceptions), but the collector in me must, of course, get them all. They're banking on people like me and fans of those two movies to make it work. A long-shot gamble, IMO, but it is what it is.

Well the Son’a models were lost so that’s why they haven’t been made. Someone has had to rebuild them and I don’t think the demand was there at the start.
Ships like Scimitar and Narada are quite complex ships which is why they haven’t been made yet.

Ahhhh... i must have missed the Odyssey code and probably figured the flash codes also wouldn't apply to specials, etc. Guess I'll need to pay more attention to the newsletters and try the flash sale codes more often. Thanks!

I usually buy my stuff through BigBadToyStore. Here's the link for the V'Ger:

    It's $45.

^^^ I concur with Dukhat - BBTS is my go-to for EM (all one of the x2 models I’ve purchased, from them!) :) considering I live in New Zealand, I’ve always found BBTS to be awesome in both delivery and product (I’ve ordered other things from them, as well as the Hot Wheels USS Kelvin - a few years ago now).

    Highly recommended :)

I'm not sure why they can't do Narada, Hot Wheels' version was pretty reasonable.

Sure, they can't model all of the fine spike and dangly bits details, but V'ger has been simplified somehwat for the scale, I think most of us would be satisfied with a similar effort.
