Spoilers Legion season 2

The other characters just need to get their heads out of their butts and realize they got played by Farouk.
I'm not sure about that and it doesn't negate what David did. He raped Syd without any delusions from Farouk, he's just batshit insane. Also, Cary knew what David did to Syd cause he had the video. No Farouking needed there. It was my impression all Farouk did was undo Syd's mindwipe. Then Division 3 was using Farouk to hopefully keep David in check... which failed.

A supervillain turned his girlfriend against him, to the point where she straight up tried to kill him, so he erased her memories of that happening so they could still be together. That's going too far, I'm not saying it was the right thing to do, but nevertheless I can sympathize with his motivation. It's kind of analogous to time travel in that he effectively turned back the clock to the point before she was affected by Farouk's manipulation ( via Melanie as Farouk's puppet ). I'm sure a lot of people have found themselves wishing they could turn back the clock when a relationship went bad, especially one destroyed by the underhanded meddling of a third party. It's not so much 'batshit insane' as opposed to pure desperation when the one good thing in your life is snatched away. Even the Jedi got to the point where they were like "well, things have gotten bad enough that it looks like it's time to take over the government"... which ended up being used against them and allowing them to be portrayed as the villains. When you're in a chess game against the real villain, this is the kind of thing that tends to happen.

I agree with most of this. I'm simply saying Farouk didn't actually use his mind bending powers to tweak their heads... He used good old fashioned persuasion (with a dash of magic mirrors) in the case of Syd, and Division 3 fell in line from there due to the actions of David.
