Yeah I caught that as well..........lolDamn, this episode took a turn! No wonder it's a two-parter! Next, I bet Isaac will realize that because he's spent more time with humans while the rest of the Kaylons have stayed on their home planet, that he isn't like them at all. But anyway, this is why I watch The Orville. Awesome stuff
Btw, at the party, I don't know if anyone caught this, but Isaac's speech was Sally Field's Oscar acceptance speech from 1984. Interesting detail seeing as Mercer told Isaac to scan his databanks for speeches. And nice for the episode to air just before the Oscars air! Coincidence?
Or his...program is in the Kaylon mainframe or whatever it is....The most unexpected twist would be that Isaac is still on Kaylon, still deactivated.
So that you know he's Tron and everyone else is Sark.![]()
That would be ST:TMP. The score also had some T2-esque themes too.The music cues where they approach the planet sound very similar to a Star Trek episode, but I can't place it.
I agree with NoName Given, totally TMP with a dash of James Horner (RIP)The music cues where they approach the planet sound very similar to a Star Trek episode, but I can't place it.
When the Orville was flying into the city, I was also reminded of James Horner's score as the dropship circled the colony on LV-426 in Aliens. Ominous sounding with a periodic soft trumpet(?) blaring sound. The music cues where they approach the planet sound very similar to a Star Trek episode, but I can't place it.
Hmmm, interesting point, maybe it will be his connection with the kids that turn Isaac against the rest of the Kaylon. They could end up getting caught and are about to be killed when Isaac shows up, saves them, then takes them to Claire, and helps the Orville crew defeat the rest of the Kaylons. That would be a good way for him to quickly earn back their trust. Here's a detail about the end of last night's show: we don't know where Ty and Marcus are.
We see them hiding behind the furniture in their quarters when a couple of Kaylons come in to search, but we don't see them captured.
We see Klyden and Topa captured.
We see Claire captive on the command deck, without her sons.
This kind of editorial elision is rarely accidental.
In the preview for next week there is a shot of Claire and Ty together.
I wouldn't totally rule that out yet, I could see that ending up being how Isaac sticks around. This episode was not what I was expecting. I figured it would be the old story where the only way to save Isaac would be to do a complete re-boot of his systems, resulting in a total memory loss and the crew (esp. Cassidy Yates) reacting to this "new" Isaac. Basically, it would be the show's way of safely getting Isaac out of his relationship status.
Obviously, I was wrong, and I'm happy about that. I don't like new television that is too predictable.
