Well maybe not thousands but believe that a country as big as the federation would only have than a thousand or so ships is ridiculous because the. The Klingons would out numbered then pretty bad. Even though the Klingons are their allies it is never a good idea to show Klingons weakness. Ronald D Moore said he wouldn’t be suprised if starfleet had 30,000 because of the high registry. However since 3800 ships would practically lose the war for the federation then it’s probably or that big and since two elements of fleets (which could just be whole fleet since the 9th couldn’t make it) equals up to 627 (and no Klingon ships) and at least the 9th and the 3rd fleet weren’t there that’s not the whole darn fleet that they aleast have about 1,000. But they probably have more or else they would stand a chance against the dominion So they would probably have 3,000 maybe and why we didn’t see it in TNG can be explained. Starfleet likes to mothball ships instead of retire them so they probably had a lot of ships in mothballs by TNG and got them out bu the war.
I have always wondered if a big group of starship could go to warp at the same time. And by big group I mean above 100 because the biggest group we seen is probably picard’s 25 ship fleet although we didn’t see them go to warp he did order it when they left the starbase
Fleet speed is dictated by the slowest ship. Sisko's fleet heading to retake DS9 has ships falling out due to engine problems before they ran into the Dominion Fleet. If the distance is enough that the fleet has to travel as cruising speed, than they can only maintain the cruising speed of the slowest ship. or go slightly faster and push the engines hard of some of the starships that can't normally maintain those speeds for that long without risk. If the fleet has to get someplace by a certain time, and you have ships that can't make it, you leave those ships behind, or have them group up and trail your fleet and hope they arrive later as reinforcements (if they are delayed by a factor of hours, rather than a factor of days or weeks).
I know about fleet speed but im asking about if it is physically possible for more than a 100 ships to go to warp
Aside from the idea that warp drives can break the fabric of reality (which was never revisited after one episode and as background explanations on why USS Voyager looked different), there doesn't seem to be a reason for large numbers of ships to have difficulty going to warp speeds? Other than they probably should be spaced out a part, or have very specific flight programs to avoid running into each other.
Prior to ENT earth was not presented as the god of the universe. The writers could have made any other planet or species the catalyst. I guess they presented Archer as the great white hope to appeal to a segment of the audience
Well ent happen so earth is the “god of the universe” (I wouldn’t use that wording though). And plus it makes sense non of those species really got along. Just look at a trip to Babel the tellerites were not so friendly with the Vulcans. Now I don’t think archer is why it all happened but humans are a big reason.
Considering how prejudiced Archer was in season 1 (rightly or wrongly) I suspect carrying Sarek's katra gave him wisdom.
I will agree with that. He was a very wise Vulcan By the way I don’t mean to nitpick but it was surak and sarek.
Do you mean "in universe answer?" There is none. This kind of detail is completely arbitrary. Even if previous stories suggest a given answer strongly, writers and producers are at liberty to invent the answer useful to the story they're telling - and they have done it many times throughout Trek history and will do it again.
I generally think of the 2370 numbers as being about 20 million individuals serving with about 60% of them being human. About 10,000 ships; that's not including Runabouts, but it does include some scout ships smaller than what we normally see. Even with those numbers, most people in starfleet don't actually serve on starships, but rather stations and planets, especially enlisted personnel. 2260s would be about 1500 ships, and about 80% human.
Makes sense in universe although an 100 year Federation might have a bit more diverse Starfleet unless they have planetary regiments e.g UESPA for Earth
