And the Next Cancelled Show is...

I don't get The Simpsons hate. Is it decent? Not really, it's kind of as stupid as Family Guy at times, but it's still watchable and at times have amazing episodes. If I were the writers I'd start screwing with storylines and start aging the children and having continuing episodes. But FOX probably tell them they can't.

Also is The Simpsons going to be owned by Disney after they buy Fox Studios?

Also The Simpsons have been renewed for two more seasons also, bringing the episode count to at least 713.
I know it's probably not right for me to think this way given that I haven't watched the show in years, but every year around this time I hope to read that they're cancelling the Simpsons but they always keep renewing it for 2 more seasons :weep:. By the way, if they do keep renewing it for multiple seasons why do they announce its renewal annually. Hell why don't they just go the whole hog and simply renew it indefinitely and have done with. it?

It's in the 30th season. So my guess is that next year they won't announce it's renewal, unless they need the ratings bump.

And they need to renew it in short chunks so Fox can talk to the voice people and everyone else about contracts.

The Simpsons' writing hasn't been stellar for a decade and a half. Watching older episodes and comparing them to later offerings, the show lost its heart. Homer still used to be stupid, but he was also a family man trying to do the best by his family. Now he is just overly stupid for the sake of a weak joke.

Simpsons is still kinda funny, when I catch it. It’s better now than it was when for a few years it was basically the Homer Falldown Show.

But at this point they either rehash themselves or do something ridiculous. South Park has been out as long and stayed fresh by reinventing the formula now and then and finding interesting ways to comment on current culture. Simpsons is just happy with their formula and coasting on nostalgia.

Also they should really do more to address that the stereotypes half their minor characters are based on don’t fly anymore. Have they even added a gay character who isn’t weirdly obsessed with an old man?

Part of the problem for the Simpsons is the turn around time for an episode. South Park (which I haven't watch since the ep where Britney Spears shoots herself) has a production time of around a week so it's easier to be up with pop culture references.

Sorry to hear about "Counterpart". Very unconventional genre-blending show, but also very good. Between this and "Travelers" it hasn't been a good year.

I know. Also don't forget "Legion" only gets one more season and all the Marvel shows getting the axe on Netflix and only one of them really deserving it.

Netflix will spend 8 billion dollars this year on their original shit and honestly how many shows can people name that Netflix makes?
