And by the way I know a lot about the navy so kinda preaching to the choir a bit. But of course there was no way for you to know that I know a lot about the U.S. Navy
I never thought the guys in the jumpsuits were officers.
Yep, what I was thinking. But the jumpsuits could be worn by officers, see lieutenants Uhura, Kyle and Singh.
...It's rather frustrating that those don't work as "what you pull over your working clothes for dirty jobs". The apparent black t-shirt beneath has too low a collar, in every case of the coveralls we see, to be the shirt that is apparently worn beneath the usual tunics or pullovers. Changing into those thus means taking off everything but your briefs and socks!

I was always confused by the black T-shirt under their yellow or blue uniforms on the show that we rarely glimpsed on the show! I used to think that the black collar was the T-shirt and without it they'd have a lower neckline!

Or maybe four. Because there is this broken stripe, which doesn't look the same as Jose's broken one:In the CAGE, they had three ranks (1 solid stripe, 1 broken (lacy) stripe, no stripe). Skipper. Gilligan. "And the Rest".![]()
Sorry, but I can't see it. You must have good eyesight, BK.Or maybe four. Because there is this broken stripe, which doesn't look the same as Jose's broken one:

Great research and analysis. If a time chart with a bar for each item is lined up by production number, one below each other, would we see any trends? When did TOS itself indicate it happened? ...
Well you were replying to a comment i made so I thought it was directed towards me. So I apologize for jumping to conclusionsHuh? You are not the only person who might be reading. I don't assume anything about readers' knowledge, but it does no harm to include a little extra detail that might be of benefit to someone.
yeah me too. I think only the first one is like a half stripeSorry, but I can't see it. You must have good eyesight, BK.![]()
On the sleeve of the crewman grabbing the printout, there is a "railroad track" pattern to the stripe with bars and blanks, and two thin borders bounding the bars and blanks. And you can see the uniform color through the blanks.Sorry, but I can't see it. You must have good eyesight, BK.![]()

Well it's not "puckered up" in this shot:Tylers stripe is the same as the other officers, it's just kind of puckered up in that shot.

As I said, starting at the top of his arm, I see gold, the green of his uniform, gold, the green of his uniform and gold. And that pattern remains consistent as he moves his arm to work the controls.

If you watch it in motion, you can see that those metallic high- and low-lights shift around with the position of the sleeve and its folds. But there are other shots where you can see his stripe is like that of the other officers.
