Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

once again eaglemoss can't get the galaxy-class deflector dish right. that said, it's great they're taking on such an ambitious project after the last build your own enterprise-D failed.

this was gonna be a skip for me, but seeing these pictures i'm not so sure, it looks like EM has managed to make a beautiful model out of a hideous design.

I like the idea of that “build your own” as long as I don’t have to paint anything but I wish they picked the E or the J. The D has been done to death.

Were you one of us that got the E-F as well or did it arrive as ordered? I still haven't heard a word from Eaglemoss.
Never got an E-F, either version. Bonaventure was delivered correctly, as ordered.

However, I’m kind of disappointed that there was no magazine that came with it containing full orthos, but I guess I understand. This is a non-canon design that has no real storyline. They would probably spend more time explaining why it wasn’t the TAS Bonaventure than anything about the actual ship. In doing so, I’m sure they would lead people to think, “well, why the hell didn’t you do the other thing then?”

It is what it is. It’s a cool little ship. Never thought I would ever see a model made of it.

I’m super new to this kind of thing, so be gentle with me. I wanted to put together an original Enterprise (1701). I’ve never done anything like this, I don’t even know where to start, but I thought it would be a fun project, especially if I can paint it.

Where should I start? Is there a simple model I could buy and assemble?

It actually does come with a magazine. Well, at least mine did. It has a lengthy article about Aristomenis “Meni” Tsirbas, the original designer of the Bonaventure model, and an interesting article about Doug Drexler's history with Star Trek. Ironically, the whole TAS-Bonaventure tangent is nothing more but a mere footnote. Essentially, Mike Okuda just liked the name.

The Eaglemoss line of ship models actually features finished models, part die-cast and part plastic and hand-painted. They come with a magazine and a stand and you don't have to assemble them yourself. If the DIY aspect is important to you, I'm sure others can recommend good model lines. :)

Thanks!!

I am looking for something that I can craft a little more. I need a good project in my life! Haha

Really?? Huh... I guess I should check the box again to see if I missed it. Not impossible that's what happened. Either that, or it's another one of those releases that sometimes gets the magazine delayed.

I've noticed that it depends on where you are to if certain models get a magazine with it or not. This side of the Atlantic, magazines come with models, in North America, they don't and one has to wait.

So I checked the box and there was no magazine I overlooked. I've not gone completely numb in the brain quite yet, thankfully. I called Eaglemoss and they have, indeed, run out of stock of that magazine, which baffles me. Are they actually ordering a lesser quantity of magazines than available models? This is not the first time this has happened, and I'm starting to think that their printer who makes the magazines is really not doing their job and keeping up with supply. So, we wait...

I still haven't heard a word from Eaglemoss.

I received a call from Eaglemoss last night in regards to the Bonaventure & just got a chance to call them back. I was offered the choice of keeping the Enterprise F or getting a prepaid shipping envelope & sending it back. When they got the Enterprise F back they would send the Bonaventure.I chose to keep it since I planned on buying anyway.

If I want the Bonaventure she stated I would need to reorder. For the magazines, I need to let them know once the F is off preorder & they’ll send it’s magazine out. For Bonaventure I may end up with 2.

I also asked about the Sarcophagus ship and whether subscribers would get. She stated if it says special it should be offered.

In the US we typically almost always get the magazines a month or two later for preorder web shop only items. I think I’ve gotten maybe 1 with the ship ?
