    Heh...
Well I for one still use mine on a regular basis.
It may fail me occasionally, but I like my odds of survival with it, rather than without.

I was just playin. But with some fans, it does seem as though they’d rather watch conspiratorial YouTube videos than actually engage their common sense. It’s just sad.

For the record, Stamets with mutton chops would be freaking awesome.

Marsh, after consulting with @T'Bonz on this issue and following your latest Moderator Actions thread, she had this to say:

Tell him T'Bonz has said that he is NOT to use Memory Alpha in any more arguments as I will consider it trolling from here on in and will toss him. Link me to the post when done.

Also, tell him not to waste my time bitching about it. That decision is final. You may use my exact words if you so desire.
I hope that makes her position on the matter clear and that we don't have any more issues like this again. That admonishment includes making false edits to Memory Alpha or any other wiki to try and win an argument here, or deliberately posting "fake news" websites or articles to support your arguments.

To other posters. Do not take this as a signal to try and provoke him into doing something or insult him, or you'll end up in trouble too.

    Oh, I'm with you there.

Forget the timing; the notion that those involved in a $100+ million production are making their casting choices based on resemblance to pixelated characters in an obscure game is batshit insane.

It’s not much of a tear jerker story when it was he that wasted his own time and money on all this. It is sad though that a bunch of knobs like Cockdoom egged him on into pursuing this fruitless endeavor just because they have an unreasonable grudge against DISCOVERY.

I wonder if CBS has made a nuisance value offer to resolve the case. I think that if Abdin asked for $5000 to $10,000 prior to the decision on the Motion for Summary Judgement, CBS would probably give it to him. At this point the case doesn't appear to be worth much more than nuisance value.

Abdin does have incentive to take nuisance value because if the motion is granted, no more lawsuit.

On the other hand, if the motion is not granted and the case is allowed to go forward, it will then be worth more money to CBS. But as has been pointed out, because Abdin was remiss in registering his copyright, his case is not worth nearly what it could have been.

If I were plaintiff counsel, I'd be on the phone with CBS right now asking for $20,000 to withdraw the lawsuit before the decision on the MSJ. From what I understand, because of the copyright registering problem, even if the case goes to trial and there is a plaintiff verdict, judgement would be determined based on actual damages only. Wonder what Abdin't "actual" damages are and how much they might be worth.

I still don't see that CBS/Paramount have any incentive to settle, especially at this juncture. I'd say that one of the last things they want is to encourage people to launch frivolous claims of infringement after they've established the historical precedent that they'll toss you a bone to go away. Given the volume of stuff that people have posted (i.e. self-published) online, they could easily have to deal with people coming out of the woodwork alleging similarities and access.

I believe I read somewhere that there are set damage amounts that the Judge can draw from.
But since Abdin doesn't actually have a game ready to release, there's no way he'll get monetary amounts that might equal what he 'supposes' its value is worth.

My personal feeling is that he's going to end up Owing money not Collecting any.

p.s. @gblews It's way too early for a summary judgment motion. None has been filed. Only this motion to dismiss and that just happened today.

We're people who devote our spare time and collective intellects to debating, in often quite heated terms, the minor details of someone elses' fantasy. It's not exactly a recipe for grounded practicality.

    True, it's really quite misnamed.

Who exactly doesn't know what a tardigrade is? My three kids all do despite never having watched an episode of DSC between them.
