Case dismissed! Discovery and Tardigrade game "not similar"

Even if no plagiarism occurred companies often settle rather than fight it for financial reasons. I'm sure CBS launched an internal investigation already. It would be unfortunate for them if the idea was stolen.

I don't think they're that concerned but time will tell.

Only if it ACTUALLY WAS.
Which going on what we know so far, is such a long shot, that you'd have better luck going back and altering all our post in this thread, to try and convince us otherwise.

(cheap shot, I know..., my apologies, but I couldn't resist)

Guys it's marsh, he won't care what you say if it means trashing on Discovery.

CBS clearly doesn't think this is a problem, they've already mentioned the Tardigrade again in Season 2, and have given approval to Star Trek Online to use their Tardigrade design since the lawsuit started.

You... again? :wtf: Sure whatever you say. I find the legal system can be unpredictable. I wouldn't rule anything out myself.

Straczynski actually pitched B5 to Paramount, but he and Warner Bros never sued over very similar things later appearing in DS9 because they knew how copyrights actually work.

Hell, CBS actually listened to and rejected Roddenberry's Star Trek pitch back in 1965, because they were in the process of making "Lost in Space" and wanted to make sure he wasn't copying them.
(weird how They ended up acquiring it eventually anyway)
:wtf:

So If the judge rules against CBS on all counts then it would be as if the tardgrade and characters never existed? Or would fans refuse to accept the judges decision on the matter whether for or against the copyright claim? I don't envy their cleanup efforts in those scenarios
Um, right now, the Judge has basically stated the Plaintiff's have yet to provide any real quantifiable evidence to back up their claims - so if she grants the MTD (as she has in the past) will ST: D haters accept it, or call the U.S. civil legal system rigged? ;)

Let's be real. No matter what the court rules CBS will still be regarded as villainous. Unfortunately, that YT video interview demonstrated as much.

The latter one.

Maybe you can edit a wiki article to support your position? ;-)
Enough.

Who cares what some wiki says? If it were funny I might do it.
You know saying that you will be doing that to mess with people for the lulz is the definition of trolling, right?

You almost got an infraction for flaming for this one, if it wasn't a situation where everyone is provoking each other.

I'm tired of discussions becoming all about marsh. I know it's hard to ignore. I'm guilty of it too, but it's kind of my job to have to deal with this. You all can and should just ignore it when he starts digging in on stuff. And the personal remarks are getting out of hand too.

It's fine to rebut him on the topic itself, but let's leave the personal remarks and unrelated issues out of it, and when he starts being contrarian for the sake of it, just let it go.

Sure. Thanks for the restraint. I'm not trying to provoke people either. I was remembering how things went when WWE got sued when they were called WWF. Now everything WWF is censored when they show old clips on tv. I wonder if something like that could ever happen with star trek.

Again, its not very likely that there would be censorship as opposed to a royalty paid. And again, ITS NOT VERY LIKELY TO HAPPEN ANYWAY!

If there's any case, it sure hasn't been communicated well by the plaintiff.

That's the idea if his lawyer instructed him not to communicate it. Here's their art exhibit.

There's at least 20 other documents submitted by them. The complaint is 13 pages long. You'd think they must have some kind of case if they feel it's worth paying a $400 filing fee.

For it to be anything more than coincidence, they have to prove someone from CBS had access to their materials. I'm not sure you can sue for the color white, or black female with short hair, that seems fairly generic.
