News 'An Obol for Charon' Promo Pictures Released

based on the episode title there was speculation that this will be about Culber, but no picture of him so far.

I mentioned startrek.com calling Reno 'Chief Engineer' and someone on the TrekCore Staff Account responded to me with:

"We can tell you Reno is not Discovery's chief engineer, though she may have been on the Hiawatha."

Not sure how they know, unless they've been given review copies like other news sites, which is entirely possible.
If 'Ain't it Cool News' can get review copies then I'd sure as hell hope TrekCore can as well.

Hmmm. I have a hard time believing they introduced her for nothing. And it's not like Discovery goes from one thing to the next to the next in these episodes. There's time to transfer her to another ship.

She could've become Chief Engineer on the Enterprise except she's wearing the wrong uniform. So that can't be it. I think she's onboard Discovery. And I do think she'll be Chief Engineer -- just my opinion -- but they can't say anything because they're not allowed to.

For her to not be Chief Engineer of Discovery, if she's assigned there, would be a demotion of position. Maybe she's not Chief Engineer at this point. She's just a temp, for lack of a better term. She's not Chief Engineer, she's "Acting Chief Engineer".

I’m all for her being the chief engineer. But that would imply that the discovery doesn’t already have one on staff...and that seems odd. Also....I want to see the warp core. Sigh.

During it's first season TNG changed chief engineers all the time or at least seemed to have multiple chief engineers. Maybe Reno will share the role with Discovery's current chief engineer.

Then the only thing I can think of is that she transfers to the Enterprise, and what we see of her is from before the transfer, so she's not wearing the wrong uniform.

Transferring to the Enterprise would make sense, considering we also see Number One in this episode.

If this happens, It honestly makes a Pike spin-off that much more likely though.

They can always kill off the current one. Ashvoq is quite good at snapping necks. :shifty:
