Everything we know about USS Discovery's interior

Including, perhaps, the Chief Engineer. (On matters relating to the project anyway.)

Airiam is seen doing stuff Scotty might do in "Brother", FWIW.

I think it's possible there's a centrally aligned main engineering room that we've yet to see, and flanking either side of it are identical engineering labs, aka the room we see in the show. That solves starboard engineering as whenever we see that sign, we are naturally in the one on the starboard side.

A valiant try, but there'd be two Spore Solariums, then, except there is only one set of Spore Injectors stolen from Straal, in that one Solarium. So, did we see Port Engineering only once, in "Context", before Straal's machinery was adopted?

I think you can see Lorca’s ready room turned Science lab in this shot

Wow. The room looked so different in the publicity photo, with all-new colors and shapes, that I thought they had merely recycled the set "skeleton" and were now using it to portray a lab somewhere else altogether. But it really seems to be next to the Bridge, with the white walls and all. I wonder why the set wasn't made in copper tones?

Hmm yeah very good point. Someone during the design phase must have worked this out right? I'm wondering where the disconnect happened. Cause no one on camera, off camera, or even the fans can seem to figure out what is going on with engineering. The zoom out in ep 3 very deliberately shows it off center, possibly even diagonal, but I don't know if that was just an error when blending the live action camera movement with CG. Maybe we aren't meant to take that scene literally as telling us exact location, but more a rough implication that we are somewhere in the secondary hull. Sort of like the zoom in to the bridge in "The Cage", a more indication to the audience where in the ship we are rather than a realistic depiction of the layout of the ship. Hopefully that makes some sense at all haha

And a transporter is on deck 4. Wondering if the new lab is the same room converted in-universe? Or if we're pretending it's a different room entirely. They did change the window layout but it's the same on the exterior so idk. The windows have some shutters too, which is cool

The long wide window has now become two smaller windows. Nowhere on the ship with windows that small, let alone two right next to each other. I suspect in-universe, they just added a new wall panel within the window from the inside, but the exterior still looks the same.

We got our first full look at Lorca’s ready room turned lab in episode 3
this might be the first set on this show that i thought looked truly bad. they just threw a bunch of complicated looking shit in there and spent their budget on pike’s beautiful new ready room.

i do like that half wall of glass computer display though.

My only gripe with the new milieu (hastily thrown together in-universe) is that if possible, it's even darker than it used to be in the days of Lorca. How could anybody get any work done at a place with such lighting contrasts? Most people would be clawing their eyes out or falling asleep at the job. And Burnham has been staring at the Vulcan sun for most of her life, without the benefit of extra 'lids. She was uncomfortable with Lorca's chosen light levels, and now this?

Sure, it may go hand in hand with using those holograms; perhaps Burnham has no choice? But some of the holostuff, such as the full-body mirrors, works just fine in daylight-level ambient lighting. Why not Red Thing Charts?

Darker rooms to see all of those displays better? One might think Like would want a less dark ship environment.

Can I point out how painfully obvious it was it they were just running circles around the same tiny corridor set during the marathon scene? Like obviously they added a new section so it's a full loop now, but they still need to hide the fact that it's a tiny set. There are ways to shoot it that make it seem bigger, but during that scene, you just see the same corners of the set over and over again in the same order. Idk, I thought it was a little distracting and makes the internal layout of the ship even less believable.

As if they were running the race inside the "bubble" at the centre of the primary hull assembly?

That assembly seems to be made of the central "bubble", then there's the habitat/lab/office ring, and then the outer ring that contains (some?) of the DASH/"Spore" Drive components.

The long wide window has now become two smaller windows. Nowhere on the ship with windows that small, let alone two right next to each other. I suspect in-universe, they just added a new wall panel within the window from the inside, but the exterior still looks the same.

Discovery does seem to spend an awful lot of time in close proximity to a sun. They certainly do like the “sun pouring in through the windows” aesthetic.
