Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

 For whatever reason Eaglemoss has sent me the Discoprise twice, even though I only ordered one. Has this happened to anyone else before?
This only happened to me when I manually ordered something from the store that was skipped by my subscription, not realizing that it would then be sent around a year later (or more) when the hole was discovered by Eaglemoss. This happened to me about 3 times to my recollection. Kind of a small slice of P.I.T.A. bread, but I wound up flipping the duplicates on eBay for close to the cost (sometimes exceeding) what I paid for them, so no biggie.

They once threw in an extra figure when I ordered a couple of Doctor Who characters. They never asked for it back, so, hey, welcome to the shelf, Rassilon.

Why in the world would there be two different versions? It’s not even a canon design. Seems overkill to me.
One that matches how it looks in game, and one with a darker hull colour like other ships from the franchise, according to STO's Community Manager at least.

Yeah - I far prefer the standard Fed gray over the skunkadelic paint job that STO modelers seem to enjoy for some perverse reason. But, the OCD in collector in me must has all teh precious!

I guess one of those must be an exclusive of some kind. I wonder which will be the general release? My preference is for the STO version, the contrast with the light hull and black stripes give it something unique.

Welp, I got some more ships through today, including the Bonaventure-Class bonus ship. It's a damn cool design and the model is lovely. I was hoping for a bit more backstory to her though - they've just stuck with the "in between the NX-Class and the Constitution" with no exact launch date or even a hint as to warp capability. Of course, anything they state could be overruled by DSC but would be nice to have a little info. The magazine is primarily a Doug Drexler interview/biography, with a little bit about his initial sketches of the ship.

Also got the Enterprise-C and the Relativity timeship, both of which are pretty.

PLUS, the first orders will also include a code to use in Star Trek Online for a Tier-5 Odyssey Tactical Cruiser, an exclusive ship material and ship upgrade token.

The early editions also come with a code for the game.

Yeah, I'll probably do the same. I'd love to give it away as a prize for the winner of the monthly art forum challenge, but that would mean I'd have to pay for sending it to the US or UK. :censored:

The model itself is pretty cool, I'm happy to report! One of the largest XL ships thus far. It helps that I really like Eaves redesign of the classic ship. :)

That's a hard pass from me.
Yup, for me as well. Both versions of the design look weird and unbalanced to me, but the odd markings from Star Trek Online make it look even worse.

The magazine is primarily a Doug Drexler interview/biography, with a little bit about his initial sketches of the ship.
It was Aristomenis “Meni” Tsirbas, not Doug Drexler, who designed the NCC-1000 Bonaventure. But yeah, the magazine doesn't give much background information, neither in nor out of universe.

The model is really good, though. I love the somewhat bulbous nacelles. Have we seen these on any of the other canon ships before?

Yep it’s true.

The ship will be available in two liveries – a Federation livery, above, to match previous Enterprises and the Star Trek Online livery, as it appeared in the Cryptic Studios MMO-RPG, below. As with all Bonus issues the ship has been produced in scale measuring 13.5cm in length.

While I'm glad they're offering up both versions, I wouldn't ever personally consider buying that STO colored one. It looks like a warp capable sneaker from the 1990's. YMMV.

How can anyone hate that? I think it looks awesome, though I do think the black on the nacelles is unnecessary. My only other issue is that they’re too small.
I wonder if we’ll get the Patherfinder next.

Oh joy!
I really, really love this design! It's probably my favourite non-canon "official" design. Never would have thought possible to hold a model of it in my hands though.:adore:

Holy Flurcking Shnit! I hadn't realised this had actually been made as part of the magazine series! Quick, to the internets!

Yup, one on Amazon.

Grab.

Mine.

I don't collect many of these ships, got the "Antares" and Harry Mudd's "Stella", thinking about a Daedalus, but this one is a must.

I'm not really into the Enterprise-F, but I didn't really like the J either. Glad they're both available for their fans though, it's amazing the range of ships Eaglemoss are making.
