Everything we know about USS Discovery's interior

In theory, the walk in "Brother" shows our heroes entering the transporter room from a curved corridor and leaving it the same way, despite supposedly being in the secondary hull. In practice, we have to accept that there are cuts in that walk, even between apparent back-to-back phrases we overhear, so that the heroes can i.e. change decks; this would mess up the connection between the transporter room and the curved corridor as well, even when it really shouldn't.

Then again, many a TOS episode made explicit connection between Main Engineering and the curved corridor just outside, including IIRC the one where we see Main Engineering in the secondary hull (the * entity leaving the facility and all). Nothing much wrong with there being curves down there, especially if the shirtsleeves parts of the ship are but floating modules of sorts, sized and shaped for the things they contain rather than for the hull that contains them.

That does remind me of he scene in S1 Ep3, when Saru escorts Michael to engineering. They walk from her quarters down a curved corridor and straight into engineering seemingly without changing decks or entering a turbo. I think we just have to do what you're saying @Timo and assume there are hidden cuts and we aren't seeing the full conversation between them, but parts of it. Perhaps there was a turbolift ride soon after leaving her quarters where they remained silent and then resumed conversation in the hall outside engineering. Same can be said for any scene like this.

To tell the truth, I'm not a huge fan of this solution as it's kind of a cheat and can be applied to any scene, making any time where they walk down a hall ineligible for figuring out the deck layout. However, in cases where the scene just doesn't make sense, such as engineering being right down the hall from Burnham's quarters, I'm happy to use this as the explanation. But I would be hesitant to use it all the time.

Yup. Sigh. I guess these seemingly continuous runs can be divided in three:

1) The conversation could well be sporadic, with just the witty highlights shown, which means long stretches of corridor would go unseen. (Saru and Burnham could have their awkward silences here.)
2) The conversation absolutely must be continuous because every line is both a response to an earlier line and a question or idea followed up in the very next line. (Pike's freshly arrived team would be talking all the way to the Bridge, bringing Saru and Burnham up to speed.)
3) The conversation probably ought to be continuous because that's the dramatic gist of the scene. (Most times Tilly is talking, I guess.)

But 2 and 3 can be pushed into being 1 if need be - the conversation could go in a few superfluous loops in 2 before returning to the repartee that solves the problem of the day, or the drama is in fact highlighted by long sulking pauses, an annoying but unseen interruption by Ensign Passerby, or angst-filled repeating of what is being said.

Or then everybody under Lorca was allowed to use site-to-site, only not inside the important rooms.

Very well put! Definitely a case by case basis sorta thing.

Lorca needed Tilly for his planned ruse since Killy was the captain of ISS Discovery. (Although, I can’t remember if in “Context” she says Lorca requested her or not...)

I don't think there's anything on-screen about Tilly's assignment to the Discovery one way or the other, but the Tilly backstory novel establishes she'd been specializing in astromycology since she was a teenager, and the Stamets backstory novel shows she was a fan of his work for years and that Stamets requested her because she was the only person in Starfleet who had any prior familiarity with what he was doing.

There was a line in season one that said what she studied at the academy. I don’t remember what.

Something interesting I noticed in New Eden; after Tilly gets hurt, the computer reports an energy discharge in the "Main Shuttle Bay".
Are there other shuttle bays? Maybe the Crossfield is designed with more but they got converted to science hoo-ha?

There's an imbalance of sorts in that the ship has fairly few actual openings other than the stern rectangle, so things like the Telescopic Camera cluster literally pop out of nowhere. Extra shuttlebays or even torpedo launchers are being sold short there... In contrast, the saucer is full of greeblies that so far lack an explanation or a function (which is sorta fun because those spinning surfaces would be much better off without said greeblies!).

Also, the ship has lots and lots of portholes of all sizes and shapes and orientations, so just about any set can be accommodated there. Which makes it odd that Lorca's Mancave had to be given a special one-off window that has since disappeared... Moreover, the one time this window had a plot role to play, it was used as a viewscreen instead, when the Glenn was scuttled. Go figure.

There was a picture being projected in the middle, to show an event that had already happened (and had supposedly happened in front of the bow of the Discovery, what with torps slamming onto the Glenn, not off to the side).

So it was a window, yes, but it was used as a viewscreen. Much like the big bridge window often is.

And then we saw the window from the outside.

And then we didn't.

Remember how the Kelvin Enterprise sprouted a side shuttlebay door in Into Darkness? I'm sure Discovery is covered in similar "invisible" hatches.

The pod racer/Power Ranger sub-bay was literally last episode. Also, even the NX-01 had arguably 5 bays.

(Main, inspection pod bays 1 and 2 aft, the saucer spanning bays had Shuttlepods 5 and 6, etc)

The USS Discovery's saucer section is made up of endless corridors but no actual rooms:

There is this hatch detail in the underside cut out, which on my Minecraft build is a cargo/sceondary shuttlebay door. It's small, but definitely big enough for shuttle and work bees to go through.
