GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

That brings up a good point, have they actually said anywhere that we will see the any of the original Ghostbusters, or just that it takes place in the same world as the original movies. I had been assuming it was going to have at least some of them, but thinking back to the articles I've read, I honestly can't remember if they ever specifically said we'd see them.
I read on IGN earlier today that the main characters are going to be a 13 year old boy and 12 year old girl. I'm starting to wonder now if we won't actually see any of the original cast, and we'll just get references back to what happened in New York, and we'll just see pieces of the original tech and things like that.
The references to them being in a small town makes me wonder if the Ecto One being in a barn is a part of the movie. Maybe the kids stumble across it somehow and that's where we start getting our connections to the original movies.

 

Bullshit, it did. Even with the announced mixed race/sex younger characters, this is just a sop to the asshole Ghostbros who acted like a bunch of whiny babies needing their diapers changed simply because Columbia made a decision to reboot the franchise with women instead of their beloved, aging senior citizen boys.

EDIT: I might see this next year, but I'm not making promises.

 

Well Sony wants to make money, so it wouldn't make much sense to emulate the previous film what with it's very poor box office and all. There's only three ways to make a Ghostbusters team. All men, all women, or mixed. They've done the first two, time for the third.

I am for the mixed teams, I don't care for races, sex or collor. Just find the right actors and a good story

 

If nothing else, the proton pack sound effect sounded really good in the teaser.

 

No, it's at least in part ploy for actual monetary returns after the financial dud of the Feig reboot. But even if it were "just [such] a sop", that wouldn't invalidate my observation. Reasonable people can disagree over whether the Feig movie was funny. But its lack of spooky atmosphere or genuine interest in paranormal storytelling isn't a matter of interpretation on my part, nor a swing and a miss on Feig's; it was a deliberate choice on the filmmakers' part to ignore all that in favor of improv comedy and frames so bright and colorful the youngest child in the audience wouldn't feel so much of a twinge of anxiety across the entire flick.


Cinema Studies 101: A movie this overlit, with a grading that pushes Caucasian faces this close to orange, is not a movie that's aiming for even a quasi-spooky vibe.

 

I heard the teenager apart but I head their was going to be teams and not just one team involved. Also kids. So I am thinking a Ghostbusters Academy type of situation. The old actors naturally being perfect as teachers or instructers. Maybe it's kind of inspired by "Harry Potter."

Ah, yes. The "whiny man-baby" excuse. Newsflash -- gender-swapping characters usually pisses people off, because it's not needed. And if they were female characters switched to men, you know Twitter (and people like you, I expect) would lose their shit.

And audiences are allowed to reject a movie....which is what happened to Ghostbusters 2016. And Oceans 8. People say "nope" and studios take the hit. Movies exist to make money, and if you don't put butts in seats, suck it up. Except in this current media age, attacking the fandom for all sorts of reasons seems to be the thing to do. "You whiny men!"

For what it's worth, the only one whining right now is Leslie Jones, acting like a moron on Twitter. She still has a career...whiny man-babies didn't take it away from her. People just didn't like the Ghostbusters movie she starred in.

As for GB3, it should've happened 10 years ago. I don't have high hopes for this film myself.

 

People threatened her with death for daring to be in a film they didn't want her to be in.

 

Welcome to the internet. People do that every day. No, it's not good....but it's the INTERNET. If she doesn't know this by now that people online are dumb, why is she on Twitter? Hell, I've gotten death threats online for correcting Japanese nationalists' skewed views of WW2.

But what I am specifically referring to is her meltdown today over the GB3 announcement.

Well, her movie flopped.

So she is wrong. Franchise failures get rebooted all the time.

Sony would be wise to avoid using GB as a vehicle for gender politics this time around. I think they've learned.

 

Does she truly expect Sony to pony up the dough for another go around? I have zero beef with Jones (she's actually one of the things about GB16 I liked) but it's idiotic to take it personally. Your movie flopped. Ya dun.

The irony of course, is that if they hadn't made GB16 a complete do-over, they could have made GB3 a crossover/combo flick. (Not that they should/would have, but they could have.)

Unrelated, I really hope we don't see the effects jumping outside the film borders again like they did in GB3. Like, ever. I hated that very much.

 

She took it personally because how she was treated as a result of doing that film was very personal. Now Sony says "don't worry! We're bringing back the real guys!" and completely ignoring the 2016 film. She has every right to take it personally.
