GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

Here's the thing though, Ghostbusters 3 is not replacing a sequel to GB16. That sequel was never going to happen. She's not losing something because of this movie.

In what world does Sony say, "You know what, we love the OG GBs but we wanna go ahead with a sequel to the remake which flopped."?

Not to mention that GhostCorps (formed before GB16 was released) was created with the plan of "expanding the Ghostbusters brand with live-action feature films, animated motion pictures, television, merchandise, and other new entertainment products." Is that plan an insult to GB16?

Does she truly expect Sony to pony up the dough for another go around? I have zero beef with Jones (she's actually one of the things about GB16 I liked) but it's idiotic to take it personally. Your movie flopped. Ya dun.

The irony of course, is that if they hadn't made GB16 a complete do-over, they could have made GB3 a crossover/combo flick. (Not that they should/would have, but they could have.)

Unrelated, I really hope we don't see the effects jumping outside the film borders again like they did in GB3. Like, ever. I hated that very much.

Well death threats combined with the fact that you starred in the movie means your proably going to have a strong emotional reaction to anything that is seen as rejection to what you did. I mean her reaction makes perfect sense. Granted it's also a vert partial point-of-view meaning that you got to take that in account as well. I don't think you can count on anything anyone who was part of the 2016 movie to not have some negative feelings about the movie because this new movie can be seen as a reflection on them, even if they don't really deserve the blame or all of the blame. They made a bad movie. It sometimes happens and it will happen again no doubt to these actors again. There still human though so it makes sense they will have normal human reactions to this stuff.

Ah, yes. The "whiny man-baby" excuse. Newsflash -- gender-swapping characters usually pisses people off, because it's not needed. And if they were female characters switched to men, you know Twitter (and people like you, I expect) would lose their shit.

And audiences are allowed to reject a movie....which is what happened to Ghostbusters 2016. And Oceans 8. People say "nope" and studios take the hit. Movies exist to make money, and if you don't put butts in seats, suck it up. Except in this current media age, attacking the fandom for all sorts of reasons seems to be the thing to do. "You whiny men!"

For what it's worth, the only one whining right now is Leslie Jones, acting like a moron on Twitter. She still has a career...whiny man-babies didn't take it away from her. People just didn't like the Ghostbusters movie she starred in.

As for GB3, it should've happened 10 years ago. I don't have high hopes for this film myself.

I'm sorry, but the recent GB was a hell of a lot better than GB2. It wasn't what it should have been, but the actors were great. Any faults were in the writing. As for your comments on Leslie Jones, this is a woman who worked for years (decades) to earn her career and scored later in life than most celebrities. She was great in the movie with what she was given. None of the women in that film deserved the crap they received.

I agree except with the part of the newer movie being better than GB2. That movie is flawed but you still have the classic characters being themselves and it's mostly okay. It never gets boring like the newer movie and it did have a plot. The newer movie suffers because they didn't really write much of a story. They wrote a bunch of interconnected set pieces it seems and then told all the comedians to riff and do improve. It's something you see in many modern comedies and it doesn't always work. Even when the talent is good. "Semi-Pro" is a movie that kind of fails in that same way from a few years ago.

I accept your opinion as a valid one. My opinion of GB2 is probably based on how much I hated sitting through it in the theatre back in the day. What I don't like is that people cover up their dislike of women being the leads by creating other arguments for how poor the movie is. Really, the actors deserved a better script. But I love Kate and Leslie as Ghostbusters.

Thing with Leslie Jones is I felt she was the one character of the 4 who actually had a character. At least one I understood and she was kind of different from the others. The other 3 who I have loved on SNL and in the case if Wiig in many other things as well is I am not sure I could even describe them as characters. I have to basically just list them by their actors names. When you look at the classic movies all 4 guys plus your secondary character all have very seperate and distinct personalties that are fun to watch and don't even relay on a joke to work to be interesting to watch. You could have done a movie about all those characters running a McDonald's for a day instead of fighting ghost and it would be just as good because the characters combined with the actors were just that good and all had chemistry with each other. Sometimes I just think a little luck helps as well. If they had gotten Belusi instead of Murray maybe the movie wouldn't have been as good even though he was also a funny person.

GB2 is seriously a beat-for-beat remake of the first Ghostbusters. Opens with the guys being down on their luck, they catch a break, Venkman makes a triumphant pronouncement after their first bust, MONTAGE! (only this time with Run DMC), there's further investigation of the monster, government jackass gets the guys put in jail, the monster begins to wreak havoc across the city so MONTAGE! (only this time with Bobby Brown), the mayor eventually takes their side, giant thing stampedes through the city, the guys beat the monster, theme song as they exit a building to a cheering crowd.

The guys weren't in jail in GB2, they were in a mental institute. Massive difference, can't believe you spaced on that! ;)

The original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2016 can co-exist without erasing each other or even undermining each other. The Ghostbusters brand has been successful at their multiverse from the beginning, with The Real Ghostbusters / Extreme Ghostbusters etc.

Exactly. The movie failed. Movies fail, planned trilogies and franchises fail. Another movie won't erase the 2016 movie in the same way the 2016 movie didn't erase the original.

Anyway, teenagers? Seriously? The F?
Is that possibly inspired by Stranger Things? Or the success of IT?

The comics went that route and even had various versions of the Ghostbusters meet and work together to stop some multi-dimensional threat.

Get this misogynistic bullshit the fuck out of here.

Haha. It's funny how easily you guys misinterpret things. Almost like you want to look for anything to find offense in. Never commented about women specifically there.

Was her statement logical? Nope.

Was it driven by emotion? Yep.

Is that par for the course regarding who we are dealing with? Yep.

From a financial standpoint, Sony is doing the 100% right thing. You don't continue a franchise that failed and lost you money.

If tears mourning GB 2016 need to be shed, so be it.
