Can't see it having any impact.

Since DSC is an on-demand digital show, do first day viewing numbers actually matter that much? People can watch it any time they choose.

^ Don't know if first day veiwing numbers matter much beyond getting a feel for the hardcore fan audience numbers.

Another thought. Discovery used to drop on Sunday nights and now it's Thursdays. Did it switch to follow the Canadian broadcasters? Did Space (?) want it on a different night and CBSAA had to comply or visa-versa?

Why the hell would it. The WAY steaming works is you can watch a show ANY TIME after it's released. Plus, the thing Streaming services care more about is - are you staying subbed and paying the fee every month?

Also, given how Netflix is CANCELLING every other Marvel related series it has <--- That would probably affect the Punisher premiere more as people subscribing just for the MUCU shows might say:

"Hey, Netflix is killing everything Marvel, so maybe it's better just to send a message to Netflix by un-subbing and not getting invested in another MCU series just to see it get axed."

I doubt the premiere date will have any lasting effects overall as again, it's not like you HAVE to watch something the day it starts streaming for your viewership of it to count.

Yeah, but apparently it's fun to fantasize about if you hate DSC.

It's also a lot of fun to keep hoping that DSC will burn in the fiery abyss, just on the off chance it will happen...

    I worry about people.

Why do you have such a biopolar view? Why must one be all in and love Discovery, or hate it? What's wrong with being luke-warm about the series? CBS will be getting my money as I plan to resubscribe to watch S2. So I support the show regardless of the impact it has on me. I don't wish to see Discovery cancelled and see little chance of that happening.

Wait a second.. January 17th is the feast day of St Anthony the Great too. What's he trying to pull?! Is he muscling in on Discovery's thunder too.

    It's a conspiracy!

Nothing at all...I just found it interesting that you would make a post making Such a ridiculous supposition. Felt an awful lot like wishful thinking.

I am not the only one to point it out.

Since the two shows do not premiere on the same date, and are carried on on-demand streaming services where you can watch them anytime you want, and one's released all at once while the other is released once a week, and there's no reason to believe one will affect the other's views, and more people are discussing what they think of the Marvel Netflix shows or Orville fans which has nothing to do with this forum, I don't see much need for this thread to remain open.
