I have no idea what I've done with it. I haven't jammed it at all, but I do have a habit of using it for tiny work with a lot of pressure.

Ah that sucks. Hate when AV's do that. Had to uninstall and reinstall Avast because it was doing that.

    Things that frustrated me today:

I told my group today, quite clearly: "Do NOT log out until you have been officially dismissed." Seems pretty clear, doesn't it? All they had to do is sit in front of their computer and wait until final checks are done---and get paid for doing fuck-all. Just sit and wait for 15/20 minutes. Seems pretty easy, no? Well, there's always that one fucker who logs out and leaves right away. So I get to write them up for leaving without permission, dock them 15-20 minutes of pay, and put yet another mark against them on their report.

    Idiots.

Bought a pack of mineral water, plus plenty of other things... Turns out it's a brand whose bottles look very much like the brand I like but taste terrible (at least I think so)... So I returned to the store which is at a distance, plus the traffic, just to get water! I don't know what to do with the other pack though... Any ideas?

I hate when I do that. There's a soft drink I used to get that came in sugared and sugar-free. The packages were too similar.

About your mineral water: does it have electrolytes? I hear plants need electrolytes.

Frustrating, when the larder is well stocked, but there’s nothing to snack on.

They say it's volcano water, which I can believe because it tastes like lava, IE dirt. I really can't stand the taste. I'd give it to someone but I feel bad about giving something I hate... even if the person who receives it says they like it. Plus it's kinda cheap. I guess most water contains electrolytes, that's why people with their feet in water get electrocuted if they touch an electric wire. That happened to a singer in France. He was taking a bath and had the stupid Idea of touching a dysfunctioning sconce... He died.

Tinned and dried veg mostly. Beans and pulses, tomatoes. Tinned soups. Cooking sauces, herbs, spices, pasta, rice, various flour, syrups, dried fruit. I’ve got eggs, fresh veg, fruit, yogurt. Tinned mackerel, anchovies, shredded crab, tuna and salmon. Jars of pickled cockles and muscles. Olives. Capers, bamboo shoots, lime pickle, lime jelly, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, coconut milk, oyster sauce, passata, instant gravy, stock pots, stock cubes, curry powder, a Christmas pudding and some cereal.

I suppose I could boil an egg or make toast, but i’m craving something meaty, savoury. Even a pot noodle would do.

@Butters: How about a slice of Christmas cake or a yoghurt with dried fruit for a snack? Or if you're craving for something more substancial, how about a poached egg on toast or with rice and tomato sauce? Or a pasta salad with some of your tinned veggies?

@Scribble: how's your thumb today? I totally agree with @auntiehill. It sounds like a case for a doctor. You might have damaged the cartilage.

Don't you all hate having to get up in the middle of the night to go to work?
It's bad enough in summer, but in winter when it's cold and dark and there are another 3 or 4 hours till sunrise it sucks royally. Today, it was such a lovely clear night with a few pearly-white clouds that seemed to shimmer from within (an effect of the moonlight reflecting on the snow onto the clouds' bellies) and the instant I left the house, a blizzard started.
Ah well - even these clouds have a silver lining if you pardon the pun: it's the perfect snowman and snowball snow - large flakes, slightly moist and perfectly sticky. =)

Thumb's no better. Actually, I've discovered something else. The joint that pops in and out does not hurt at all. It's my next joint that's painful, both while flexing my finger and pressing on the joints.

Sorry about the early mornings and blizzard on your way to work. Do you drive or take public transport? I seem to remember you saying you take the train or bus. Fuzzy memory.

Usually I go by bicycle but atm the roads are too slippery so that I walk. It's not far, only a 20 minutes walk.

The way you describe the pain in your finger joint sounds a bit like arthrosis to me. Does it hurt like a wasp sting (sharp and burning sensation) when you apply pressure to the sides of the joint but doesn't hurt when you apply pressure from the top? If so, welcome to the club :) I've had arthrosis in my fingers and toes for more than 15 years now. It can't be healed but its progress can be slowed down a lot.
The thumb problem sounds like damaged cartilage to me. You should see your GP or an orthopedist about it to prevent further damage. The thumb is the most important finger and if you cause lasting damage you'll find you'll have problems with almost everything, from opening jars to holding a toothbrush.

This pain is just the opposite, actually. Pain when pressure applied to top and bottom, not on sides.

I'll get to a doctor as soon as I can. Actually, I do need to see a doctor for a pre-op physical for repairs on my toe incision.

Good idea :) I keep my fingers crossed that the surgery goes well.
