Indeed, and it isn't that one thing that holed them below the waterline. But it's a factor that helped push them outside the fan film arena and into independent-but-unlicenced Star Trek film. They were paying the actors too, if memory serves. And of course having them directed by a paid professional director, and calling it anything other than a fan film.

IMO regardless of axanar, CBS was going to come down on fan films using professional actors and especially former trek actors. That situation was not going to be allowed to continue.

I was kind of amazed they ever let it happen at all. I've seen comments that made it sounds like Continues and possibly NV/PII had actually had dealings with CBS, which always kind of surprised because I had always assumed the moment they found out about those kind of productions CBS would shut them down.

I don’t think it was AS BIG a deal when it was the recreation of 1966 TOS which most people could easily identify as fan films. A 75 year old Walter Koenig or George Takei isn’t going to be as confusing as Graham as Soval looking exactly the same as he did on Enterprise. IMHO.

so much stuff happened, but worry not guys, we're staying consistent! no matter what's going on, cash remains the only constant of these "fans" and their "passion" for their "fan films" apparently. what's up in 2019?

lord vapor: forget the ~2m i had, gimme 200k so i can make the movie^^
- that's solid, we expected nothing less. i miss a kicker, but i'd give it 8/10 for extra lawsuit threats and continuously good greedometer points.

rmb: only got a car, a mac and 3k/month out of it or something like that? no wonder he quit! that's pathetic nowadays in the high paying fan film industry. his time is WORTH SO MUCH MORE! YOU KNOW WHAT THIS DVD COSTS! 50 THOUSAND DOLLARS! HE'S A PRO! But! He's thinking about crowd funding his defense against alec and what to do with any excess money?
- that's at least something star trek fans can pay for. bit of a comeback here. 7/10, but i expect more in the future.

lane: i think he stands by axanot in the hopes that LFIM is going to help him crowd fund the "fan film" he's apparently going to (do i even say "make" here?) ehm... attempt now. guess he got a reputation as crowd funding grandmaster after the fluke with xanaxanar and george takei endorsing it what seems like a million years ago now at this point.
- i have a good feeling about this. one day we'll wake up to a brand new star trek kickstarter with LFIM involvement and it'll be only due to him. 9/10 for hanging in there. he's our future. support him now.

my wishes for 2019: only that ms. kingsbury would join again. apparently alec owes her tens of thousands according to rmb? now if she could sue alec, and alec sues rmb, and if rmb could sue her (his girlfriend didnt get her perks and she was director of fullfilment), wouldn't that be awesome? star trek fans never paid for so many court fees before.

and as for the future of the *cough* film. remember when we thought a mysterious fire in the
axaindustryareswarehousestudiosoundstage would bring an end to a well insured project? we're idiots. losing a bunch of hard drives is so much easier now probably as an explanation, that's the new wave against the firmament i think.

at this point it's really a ""FAN" "FILM"" as neither applies but i'd give it a very good 8/10 for greed for all involved.

The Enterprise production team borrowed some pieces from the New Voyages set for the USS Defiant set. Only thing I can remember right now was the scope on the tactical console. This comes from the audio commentary for one of the episodes.

Some higher ups also confronted Doug Drexler about his work on New Voyages, they were willing to turn a blind eye as long as he wasn’t using any official Star Trek assets. This comes from an interview he did with TrekYards IIRC.

I heard that CBS borrowed the folding scope and lost it, so it was never returned to the owners. Is that true???

by "The Axanar Defender" https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeKAKL8SQiBRZi9AyPkrFoA as a promo clip filmed at axacon 2018 in which "poster boy for fan-film litigation" Gary Graham (he called that himself, not I) says "Support Axanar", which is followed by the line i cited from JG on the "bridge set" of the "Ares". This update video has so many views and so many overwhelmingly positive comments that I feel like we have come full circle, everybody just forgot what happened over the last years, all the money down the drain is forgotten and all is rosey. fuck. nobody can smoke that much. can they? i can't.

Alec is undoubtedly organizing a viewing/positive comment campaign. The fact that none of his surrogates have said a single solitary word about the RMB revelations indicates that Alec is playing the "ignore and overwhelm with alternate coverage" game.

As asinine as AP has been about this whole affair, I do marvel at his ability to keep this befuddling perpetual motion machine rolling. I honestly never would have expected it to go on this long after the lawsuit. A true Energizer rabbit, that one.

There are some statements at the beginning about the lawsuit that needs fact checking... where's our JAG, her majestic @jespah, when you need her! Or @carlosp—The Axamonitor! Send up the Axamonitor signal!

Also, Alec says "CBS wasted $1.4 million of donor money..." Oh, typical Alec... always blame someone else and never take full responsibility.
