And the scripts for the Farscape comics were all by our own KRAD and David Mack.

I started reading The Dark Crystal: The Ultimate Visual History the other day, and I'm only about 30 or 40 pages into it and it's already been really interesting. It cover pretty much the entire history of the franchise, with a tiny bit covering Jim Henson's early days before going into how he first came up with the idea that would become The Dark Crystal, and going all the way up to the release of the comics and novels and the annoucement of Age of Resistance. One thing that's really cool is it's filled with recreations of all sorts of hand written notes, memos, promotional pamphlets and stuff like that. If you are a fan of the movie it's definitely worth checking out. My only real complaint is that it's freakin' huge, and heavy.

Anybody here read Power of the Dark Crystal?
I read the first issue back when it first came out, and one thing bugged me, they never explained where all the new Gelfings came from. Do they ever explain it in a later issue?

It was set centuries after the film, wasn't it? Presumably Kira and Jen were prolific.

They were still alive, so I didn't think it had been that long. It just seemed like an awful lot of them to have just come from Kira and Jen.

Well, that's what the Muppet Wiki said. I guess Gelflings have long lives.

Of course, a single breeding pair doesn't have nearly enough genetic diversity to spawn a viable population, but we are talking about a fantasy story, so I guess creation-myth rules apply.

Oh, Ok. There was a line in the issue I read about using the power of the crystal to create life, so I was wondering if maybe that had something to do with it.

I finished up The Dark Crystal: The Ultimate Visual History last night, and I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone interested in the production of the movie.

I plan on getting that one too, once I get through a few more of my unread books. I just wish they had these as e-books, it would make reading them much easier.

Ah of course....the Emperor when he was still healthy.

Seeing the Skeksis again (the ones we know, just slightly younger, and the ones we didn't see) will be very interesting. Gelfings are one thing, but the known characters, that's something else.

Yeah, I'm loving everything we're seeing, they seem to have done a great job of capturing the look of the movie.

August 30, eh? They certainly sneaked that one up on us - not too far away now. Months of silence and then BOOM! Looks positively beautiful - cannot wait!

I like that the Emperor is holding his scepter with one of his secondary (atrophied) hands while holding the sword with the primary hands.
I wonder if this is before the Gartham, and thus the Gartham Master would be something else prior to their creation.

I'm curious to see if this will resonate at all with the younger generation more used to CG characters and cell animation. I remember trying to show the movie to my niece when she was about 7 or 8 and she didn't even make it past the ten minute mark: -
"Is this all puppets!?" *pulls a face like I just tried to trick her into eating broccoli*
