Disco's version of TOS/TAS: Differences

This is a franchise that spans 50 years and will probably span at least another 50. In a franchise that spans decades, characters are going to be recast. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, James Bond, Captain Kirk, it happens to all of them. The first Doctor in Doctor Who. One day (are you ready for this?), they'll recast Captain Picard. The characters are more than just the actor.

The only reason the Kelvin might stick out is because of its size - IIRC, it had a crew of over 800, so it must be a lot larger than the Discovery. But if the two ships aren't in the same shot, then no problem.
Discovery itself is massive - 750m, and with huge volume in that secondary hull.... and a crew of 130. I doubt whoever wrote that line ever saw the specs.

While it would be awesome, the chances of anything from the Kelvin movie series showing up in Disco are zero. Also, I suspect the square nacelles on the Disco ships is to make them immediately distinct from the movie ships.

If SJ Clarkson's ST4 ever happens, we should see Robau and the USS Kelvin there.
I was thinking of a comic crossover by IDW. Elements from both series have been referenced in each other’s comics, e.g. Stamets flying in a military shuttle and Gary Mitchell talking mushroom drive.

I got bored and decided to make TOS style Discovery Pike. Enjoy. :)

Well I’ll just save this in my humble opinion one discovery looks great and I like it, but no way it will ever be able to give me that nice feeling I get whenever I watch the original series it will never happen. Because it’s very hard to beat the classics. I Mean they can never get it to look like it was before because it just wouldn’t work.
However I do not like that they made a very touchscreen. I mean enterprise had touch screens but they kept at a minimum. Most the time the crew had to use buttons. But on the bright side they can’t just kick TOS out of Canon because just about all Trekkies would probably right in front of CBS. So they have to make it in a way related to it. Although I will say this I could’ve least pick the shit that looks a little bit more aesthetically pleasing. I’m sorry but the ships are the down part of the show. But it makes up with good acting. And One thing you said they could’ve made the uniforms look less tracksuit and more uniform. And whatever happened to Gene’s theory that in the future there are no zippers! Also the fact the discovery house in operations officer is just annoying. Ops officers come in in the 24th-century not the 23rd century. It’s like they don’t even care the fact that they’re getting things wrong. They could’ve least have turned off into navigation. But whatever they probably just womeup and say I’m gonna throw out canon because I can. But even with all of this I am still looking forward to season two.

Why the hell not without us they would have no money
And without them, you’d have nothing to praise or condemn.

Artists owe the audience nothing other than whatever they produce—novels, paintings, music, films, etc. They most certainly do NOT owe the audience satisfaction. Conversely, the audience does not owe artists approval. Artists put out their creative works (which should always be a reflection of what they—NOT the audience—want to create) and audiences are then free to like, dislike, praise or condemn, or express indifference.

IF an artist (or group of such) chooses to “listen to the fans”, they are free to do so (though that’s usually a fruitless undertaking given the impossibility of satisfying “the fans” as an aggregate group). However, such a choice should NEVER be considered an obligation nor are “the fans” OWED any particular consideration ahead of time.

No, it is literally impossible to recapture that feel and they would be remiss to attempt it as it would fail.

GR attempted to distance from TOS from the moment he create TMP so I'm not worried about it getting it exactly right, when even GR wasn't worried about it.

Thankfully, others have realized that zippers are rather functional and useful items and don't need to fade away.

Exactly. The fans are owed nothing.

But in the case of the show if nobody was watching the show then obviously it will get canceled and there goes their artistic dream.

Too bad. They move on.
But if they keep on moving and have serious fail and fail do you really think people are going to hire them. Because at the end the day while to them it’s their artistic vision to the production companies it’s just money. And it isn’t good business practice to invest in a known failure. But hey that’s just my two cents.

Last time they had a 'hard core' fan making the decisions, we got Nemesis.
