Weird things you did as a kid?

Anyway what weird things did you do as a kid?

I just laughed my sides out remembering something I did when I was a wee child.

I made a mustard, milo, and sugar sandwich. What's weirder is that I ate the whole thing and didn't bat an eyelid or feel sick because I sure as hell should have felt ill eating that.

Anyway what kinds of things did you do?

I was a tomboy as a child and played mostly with boys up until my teenage years. As an adult I realise that my female friends never tried some of the things I did. In Sweden we have this candy that is basically eatable strings that taste of raspberry or licorice. I used to put a string into my nose until it reached my throat and mouth. Once there I started eating it. As a grownup I find that disgusting but as a child it wasn’t.

I’m not really sure why you think this might be the wrong place? For the record, yes, this is an entirely appropriate topic for Misc.

I have never heard of milo before just now. Thank you, Google, for the explanation! :techman:

Milo is delicious in milk or with hot water and a pinch of milk as an alternative to hot chocolate or drinking chocolate. It's not really meant to be mixed with sugar and mustard or both.

When I was very little I would record the car reg plates in a little note book. I also collected litter from the streets in a secret location.

I also made toilet paper cakes by pressing wet paper in to the plughole and drying them out on the window. Don’t know why.

I experimented with tea/coffee combinations, and also soft drinks and ice cream etc.

I would go exploring the fields around the village alone, imagining I was on some epic expedition to the unknown, crossing rivers and jungles (dykes and rapeseed fields) in search of treasure.

Haha sounds like me playing at being Indy exploring a creek and these huge pipes you could walk inside. There was one right next to a creek here that teenagers used as a makeout spot and you could walk for ages down there in the pipes.

This has just awoken a long forgotten memory. When I was very little, about five, a new water pipeline was run through the area, and for a little while there were building sites full of huge concrete pipes stacked at various locations. Big enough for a child to run through if crouching. All completely unguarded. I played around these with my sister, who was five years older.

This is a sign of a great childhood (at least that part of it). Not sure why you'd think it was a weird thing to do as a kid.

I thought it odd because all of the other children wanted to play tig, or hide and seek, ride their bikes in the square, or just play ball games by the ‘No Ball Games’ sign.

It’s also, unfortunately, something my kids aren’t allowed to do, even though the dangers are much less now. It just seems reckless to let them roam the countryside as I once did.

Oh the pipes were pretty awesome they were large enough you could walk in them and that went for what seemed like ages, you needed a bright flashlight inside there and they only started to get smaller around 10 to 15 minutes later if you kept walking. I don't know why they were never used much or why they were not more secure but this was like 1982 and the world seemed a much different nicer place.

It's disgusting, it doesn't dissolve but floats on top of the milk like industrial waste.

Pretty okay on ice cream though.

I was at my grandma's house after going out trick or treating. Was upstairs eating a lot of candy when my grandma came up and asked me what I was if I was eating candy. I said I wasn't, with a mouth full of it.

Both her and my mom cracked up for around 10 minutes that night from it.

And I put pieces of paper (small bits of it) onto a piece of pizza when I was in elementary school to try to make it taste better. It didn't really help.

I loved to sit near this old air conditioner back in the early 70's. Amid the susurrus....it almost seemed to be speaking

Cool. Used to do similar stuff. Walked with friends through the woods looking for hidden old towns and treasure. Used to try to dig for treasure too.

I used to scoop a glob of Crisco onto my index finger and dip that into sugar and eat it.

I also used to sit for hours on my bedroom floor staring at and studying the various Star Trek blueprints and deck plans that I had. I guess this was weird because no one else I knew would do that.

Once, my friends and I started watching Somewhere in Time at one of their houses and they got bored and went outside to play. I continued to watch until it was over because that movie touched me in ways not many have. When it was over, they were nowhere to be seen and I went home. My parents were mad at me because they didn't know where I was and wouldn't believe me because they drove by this friend's house and saw them and not me.

I had a friend that had a mole or something on his leg and I always like touching it.

I know when I was a kid I had this girl as a friend and we were kind of curious about our bodies so we went in the backyard and I showed her my thingy and she let me see her boobies. Then we went inside and I felt nervous anytime my mom would see us together.

I thought eating water colors in class would impress a girl I had a crush on.

I use to have a crush on twin girls in kindergarden and my whole way of showing it was to pretend I couldn't tell them apart.

I use to eat dog food out of the bag.

Apparently I was so upset when my mom and dad got a divorce I ran out in the middle of road wanting to be hit by a car but I have no memory of this.

As a older kid me and my cousin and sister rode on top of a cab of a moving pickup truck going down a country road nearby my step-dad's families house and my cousin thought it would be funny to kind of try and push me off. Then I laughed because when it was over he stepped on a nail in the back of the pickup truck while we were getting down from the truck.

Had 3 seperate close calls with a 4 wheelers. Once drove over my little brother playing outside because I didn't see him playing in the dirt. It was a miracle he went under in just the right way or it could have killed him. I was so stunned I went inside and tried to not cry by messing around with a speak and spell but then soon as my step mom came in I couldn't hold it and started crying really hard. Then I flipped this vehicle over with a older brother on back and almost drove us right into a creek with same older brother on back yet again.

What is crisco?
It's a brand name for shortening, for stuff like pies.

Here's what Crisco is normally used for...
