Question: Where is it explicitly said that Kirk took command immediately after Pike?

Apparently this spore is found on all M-class planets in the Milky Way, and probably everywhere else. Harvesting it would just mean scanning for a mushroom with a unique subspace signature.

Then, grow it to maturity, harvest it's spores, inject directly into the reaction chamber which somehow does not vapourise it but fuck it the little guys have hazard suits or something like sperm in iron man armour, which makes the ship go...anywhere because something.

Starfleet knows that much. Equinox could have done it, Janeway certainly would have considered it.

I didn't say Spore Drive would be kept a secret. I said the instructions on how to put one together would be. Two different things.

And yes, people wouldn't be quick to remember it. I don't remember all the details or innovations of the Spanish-American War. History buffs in the Federation probably do remember the Klingon War and are super-knowledgeable about it. Doesn't mean they're engineers who can reverse-engineer an abandoned technology.

Sure they can reverse engineer it. Why? Because this is all fiction and make believe. So that’s not the point. The point is why the spore drive will not be used or even heard of by future generations, in continuity within this fictional universe. Even if there is some horrendously bad reason why it can’t be used, what’s to stop some unscrupulous person like Harry Mudd from using it?

Harry Mudd's an engineer?

Knowing about a technology is one thing. Putting it together is another. You need an engineering background to do it. Or you need to hire an engineer with the know-how to do it. Could you? Sure. Does it happen? Who knows?

Didn't Cornwell say some other ships were being fitted with Spore Drives?
Wasn't that BEFORE we learned that it needed a biological navigator? I thought all bets were off after we decided not to enslave a species or continue down the road of Eugenics.........

Q.

Admiral Cornwall said they were trying their hardest to modify the fleet to use the sporedrive
That doesn't mean it actually started. The project could have been stalled because of how badly the war was going.

Also this.

No dialogue in the show ever said that.

Equinox could have done it, Janeway certainly would have considered it.
Not if they didn't know it existed, and the data was classified.

Why would Voyager's or the Equinox's computers have classified information?

Why didn't the Klingons or the Romulans (or any other Federation level civ) ever re-create the Genesis device?

There's a world of difference between creating a planet and accessing an already-existing spore network which permeates the multiverse. If one guy imagined it could be used for travel, others would too.

And remember, even the Klingons know of the "magical" Discovery.

And remember, even the Klingons know of the "magical" Discovery.
And they also know about the Genesis Device.

And AFAIK, there are are no living Klingons who have seen the Spore Drive in action.

L'Rell and Tyler were always inside of the ship, and anyone else who witnessed it is dead.

They know of it, but they don't know how it works, they don't know how it's powered.

Edit:

Ah shit, I just remember they raided the Glenn.

It seems clear that something will happen which 'turns off' the spore network for good.

I have a nagging suspicion that Ripper will be involved.
Honestly, it just reminds me of the Prophets/Wormhole aliens, who find the linear beings traveling through their domain to be uncomfortable to their existence. Perhaps the spores are sentient in some way.

It might be exceeding difficult to create a working spore drive without the genius of Stamets and a navigator like the giant Tardegrade??

You think they'll shoehorn another captain in there before him? It's possible but seems unnecessary.
