Title of "The Picard Show"

Wonder why they've been holding back the title for so long for the Picard show? Discovery's title was announced early on same for "Lower Decks". Are they just holding it back for some later publicity drive or is there a deeper reason for it? Or have they not even made their minds up on it yet?

Maybe it will simply be Star Trek: Picard?

From the latest news articles:
“It’s an extremely different rhythm than Discovery,” Kurtzman said. “Discovery is a bullet. Picard is a very contemplative show. It will find a balance between the speed of Discovery and the nature of what Next Gen was, but I believe it will have its own rhythm.”

Discovery, Picard, Next Gen. All seem like good show names.

Star Trek: Picard would be a title that sells itself. Then they can start doing other series like Star Trek: Kirk, Star Trek: Khan. Star Trek: Dukat.

Followed by Star Trek: Cardassians, Star Trek: Archer, and Star Trek: Mirror Georgiou (that's the one about Section 31,right?) :D:D:hugegrin::hugegrin:

I think the title might be a spoiler for the premise. My best guess.

Agreed. This is pure speculation, but if the show is called Star Trek Destiny because it's based on the Destiny series of books, the title would spoil the plot earlier than they might want. Not that I think it will actually be based on that series of books, but you never know.

I agree the title is being withheld probably because it may play into the plot, or possibly maybe they haven't settled on one yet. I think it likely to be one of the trademarked names, I'm banking on Star Trek: Destiny (not that I expect it to be based on the novel series really just a feeling).

I basically refer to it as the nu-TNG show for now, just to differentiate it from the original TNG show.

Anyone think there's any possibility they actually call it Star Trek: The Next Generation? I personally doubt that, just curious. I mean other show continuations have used the same name as the original show, like Dallas, Roseanne and some others that have been a direct continuation and not a reboot, remake or some other such thing. And as far as I know CBS owns the right to that name already so they wouldn't need a new trademark.

...Or have they not even made their minds up on it yet?
I actually think that's the reason, IMO. I don't think it's uncommon for a TV or movie project to just have a working title during its initial development or pre-production and then to have an official title later. There's even been productions that have had name changes after the cameras have started rolling.

The name reveal is part of the marketing strategy. It makes no sense to reveal that without revealing the premise or a shot of Picard or some teaser.
