News Next Arrowverse Crossover to Include Batwoman

Alternate possibility: Earth-1's DEO is *much* more aggressive and effective at discouraging alien migration than Earth-38's.

As I already alluded to, Earth-1 doesn't have a DEO, or at least hasn't had one in the past. That was made explicit at the end of "Invasion!" two years ago, when Supergirl mentioned to "Agent Smith" that she'd been talking to his boss the President about founding an Earth-1 equivalent of the DEO, as a better alternative to his sadistic rogue operation.

ARGUS is basically the Earth-1 equivalent of the DEO, but the lack of known alien encounters changes the scope of its mission.

This is a strawman argument that means nothing.

As for what storytelling advantage is gained from introducing those characters, even in a one-off capacity that isn't reflective of their normal personas, the advantage is that it deepens the worldbuilding.
It also feels unnecessary to me. I just don't see the need to just suddenly dump Earth-1 version of the Supergirl's cast into the mix, when they have Vibe and the whatchamacallit device that can bring the Earth-38 versions over just as quickly as you can walk from one side of a room to another.

I really hope that wasn't it. I want to see more of Shipp as that character. There are SO many possibilities there. I really hope that they didn't just Thanos him out of existence. That would be a terrible thing. Even if his part is small, doing an episode of The Flash where the two Barrys have an adventure together would be ridiculously exciting.

The special-effect used was the same effect the Monitor uses to teleport objects like the book around, so I'm guessing the Monitor just zapped 90s Flash somewhere else. If he was meant to have obliterated that Barry, the show would have probably milked that moment more.

It's very intentional that they never brought in Earth 1 versions of the Superman family. I actually love the idea of the Kryptonians being younger on this Earth, so Clark hasn't debuted yet and Kara is still in space.

Interesting idea. Its a call back to the way DC handled the shift of Golden Age characters to the retconned Earth 2, which had a world that still appeared to be 20 years in the past (in some stories), while the Silver Age was contemporary, so its characters and debut periods were different.

A one off? Sure. But making them permanent, even if off camera, members of Earth 1, while it might deepen, to what end? Superman solves problems. If there’s a big global problem, why wouldn’t the team call Superman to help? Then we have to come up with silly reasons why we can’t or don’t want to.

More problems than its worth.

...a problem that was most glaring during the entire Reign showdown, with some excuse that he was elsewhere in the world, when a Kryptonian-related threat would be his number one priority, not only for personal reasons, but due to the kind of threat it posed to mankind, but yeah, he could not be where he was needed most.

John Wesley Shipp has been promoting tonight’s conclusion on Supergirl to his fans on his various social media. Encouraging everyone to watch. That is not a spoiler or promise he appears but a pretty big hint. He mention in an interview he was the first to announce the series title “Legends of Tommorrow” at a convention before it was officially released. So he has learned to be very reserved in what he discusses in terms of spoilers.

Exactly. And if the problem he's facing can't be paused to stop a threat to mankind, wouldn't that mean it's ALSO a threat to mankind? Wouldn't that be important to know?

Yup, and smallville would be the universe a little older than the current one, and Earth 90 would be the one a little older than that.

Turn on the subtitles if you can't hear it.

It was a joke - a few years back a character referenced Oliver in a vague way while calling him that man (vigilante) and using dark descriptors.... People on line debated endlessly on whether or not it was a Batman reference.

Random observation I know, but did anyone else feel like the cinematography used for the Gotham scenes suited Kara surprisingly well? Something about the streets actually looking dark and dangerous made her seem more like a classic street level reporter than she ever has on her own show.

*red flash*
That is correct. Earth-1 does not have a DEO, and that alien space craft you just saw was in fact the light of Venus reflecting off some swamp gas and those two Thanigarins are just trick-or-treaters...in December.

In the unaltered timeline, the Flash was supposed to become him in 2020. That could imply that around that time, Superman and the others are supposed to appear.
Clark could still be at Smallville high at this moment.

There was a line of dialogue along the lines of "Bruce didn't leave without a fight" I can't remember it word for word, but I remember thinking that they might be setting it up so that Bane was the reason Bruce & Batman were gone.

I'm pretty sure if they existed we would have seen them by now.
Right because on Earth-90 'The Flash - Barry Allan' also first appeared in 2013...oh, wait...

My point, in a Multiverse of so many realities anything is possible. Again, on Earth-90 Barry Allan has been the Flash for nearly 30 years; yet on Earth-1 Barry Allan has been the Flash for 5. The fact neither Kara or Kal-El haven't been seen on Earth-1 as "Supergirl" and "Superman" from that reality yet, doesn't mean Earth-1 version of Kara and Kal-El don't exist.

Except that the Barry Allen of Earth-90 is a doppelganger for the Henry Allen of Earth-1, not the Barry Allen of Earth-1. He's not the same person as Barry born earlier, he's the same person as Barry's father, but with a different name -- just as Jay Garrick is a doppelganger of Henry Allen who had a different name and became the Flash of Earth-3. Apparently there's a recurring pattern in the multiverse for this particular individual who looks like John Wesley Shipp to be associated with speedster powers and the name "Flash," but for some reason it skipped a generation on Earth-1.

Anyone else feel the conversation between Felicity and Caitlin about Iris should have been Felicity and Iris herself?

On Twitter I was seeing the hashtag #ElseworldsTooWhite before it even started. Because Candice Patton said in an interview she only is in Part 1. With complaints there will be no scenes of reporters Iris and Lois together. After that Iris and Felicity I think they have a point. She should have come with the group.
