Romulan Women

Would be nice if an upcoming series Cough Picard Cough, could flesh out the romulan people, and women, show where they are in the socity, We know they can be senators, Comanders of war birds, so there not held down like they are in Klingon socity ( Sometimes.. Tng says they can't be on the high consel but 2 have been chancolers in the 23rd centery.. go figure) I like the curent romulan praetor in the book series, she's in it for the romulan people, but not a war monger or romulan first.. jolan tru.

The only thing that comes to mind when I think of Nero is him yelling "Spock" and being bald. Throwaway villain if there ever was one.

For all you know, maybe he's like the dwarves in Tolkien who cut their beards short when grieving. Except Nero just shaved it all off. That would explain why the whole crew was bald really now I think about it.

OTOH, we do learn of Romulan "offshoot" worlds in TNG. It just appears that when Romulans "shoot off", they do so in order to leave behind the rest of the society, or to wage war with it, or to split into even further factions, or other such stuff that comes naturally to Vulcanoids. So having off-Romulus seats of power might not help the Romulan Star Empire much.

(Humanity might be screwed the same way: colonists leave Earth because they want nothing to do with it, and the feeling is mutual, so that the almost million on Deneva may go silent for a year and nobody cares.)

Vulcan in turn had colonies originally, as per obscure offhand mentions in TOS. They just turned inward at some point, at least in the Kelvinverse. So where once we had the glorious systems-spanning Vulcania, there now is just Vulcan...

Or another sign of lazy writers not doing their research. If everything was the same prior to 2233 then the Vulcan colonies still exist. If Star Trek humans can colonise Mars and the Moon in their own solar system there is no reason Vulcanians have not done something similar. They do not even need to be systems spanning.

Oops, good point. Romulus and Remus and all that. I was confusing their interaction with the Federation as more of a China style power in the Cold War, while the cultural design was definitely Roman.

It's a very interesting, and dramatic fan film by Sam Hain, just with a dozen sex scenes added in so he could make money and distribute it. It really doesn't rise to the level of parody, and it's kinda sad that, just because of the sex scenes (that were edited out), it receives an automatic ban from discussion here.

Well, they call it that, and the novels and STO give them a huge chunk of space. But in "Balance of Terror", Spock said the Neutral Zone was a border separating the planets Romulus and Remus from the rest of the galaxy, which doesn't sound like a lot of territory.

And Spock did call Nero, "last of the Romulan Empire" in the ST'09 mind meld scene.

I hadn't caught the part about it having been edited down, but I still don't think it would be appropriate to post a porn film here. There's been a big crackdown in these parts on explicit content in recent years...even in fanfic, IIRC.

I was referring to just a link, although I know the forum's software sometimes converts links from Youtube, which might be problematic.

But that's the thing, even though Youtube has age-restricted the edited version, there is absolutely nothing explicit about it. It's about a half-hour, and it's very obvious that they are cutting away when they're about to have sex (which could be further removed with some more graceful editing), but the overall story is a solid fan film, set in the fifth season, that shows something that could've happened as an extension of the Sela-Alternate Yar arc.

The Picard actor is a professional Patrick Stewart look-alike who has been in several fan films. He wasn't involved in the porn scenes. The Data actor (who is a porn star) does amazingly well in his role, and is easily the best out of the cast.

People seem to get hung up on the fact that it was a porn film originally, but that really just helped it get the financing to purchase props and special effects that are unavailable to almost any other fan films without the aide of kickstarters or patreon.

"Do not meddle in the affairs of the Romulans, for they are blunt and quick to shave"? If we take Spock's recounting of the events as true, Nero's bunch would have had a minute or two to grieve before meeting with Robau's ship...

We know aliens in Trek are funny. Bajor never colonized its own class M moon!

Also, Vulcan quite explicitly has lots of expats around at the end of the 2009 flick - the billions on Romulus. Doesn't mean they should count: the very point of them being expats is that they have ceased to be true Vulcans.

We hear of Vulcan offshoots ("Paradise Syndrome") and Romulan offshoots ("Gambit"). It may be in the green blood of the species to shoot off in anger and disgust at the slightest disagreement. Which essentially means that every offshoot group fends for itself, and treats the others as enemies at best. I have no problem believing there'd only be 10,000 stoic Surakists left in the universe once Nero is done!

ST VOY - Tuvok was born on a Vulcan colony. I don't think only his parents lived there.
ST ENT - When Archer stated that Vulcans don't explore the galaxy, Ares/Syran reply was another lie by the High Command, or something like that.

Romulan women as seen in TOS Enterprise Incident were very sexy! Those seen in the TNG era all looked the same with the V shaped ridge and dark black wig which covered most of their face! I wonder why TNG didn't follow TOS in that area? I've always entertained a thought to if they would have dared ask Leonard Nimoy to wear a forehead mask so he could be similar to the new style of Vulcanoids and to what his answer might have been!

A lunar colony, specifically. Since Vulcan has no moon, Nero probably didn't get that one. But why insist that Spock would be wrong? Perhaps the Vulcan Embassy on Luna features its share of camp followers, but these need not number in the thousands.

I didn't even want to see it for the sex scenes. I was just surprised TNG had a porno version. If all the sex is edited out I don't see the problem but instead of a link I'll just look for it myself like I should have done in the first place

The besotted Commander from "The Enterprise Incident" was likely executed for allowing Kirk and Spock to make away with the cloaking device.

Same for Sela. Two major blunders would not be easily forgiven.
