Hi again @Major Tom ! Just to let you know, we do have a forum here specifically dedicated to gaming. I am going to move this thread there, since you may get more responses there.
Thank you for the move! I wasn't sure where the right place to post this was. Regardless, it looks like we don't have too many!
I used to play all the time! It took up too much computer space, so I stopped, but it was one of my favorite games. I wish they had The Sims for consoles. I much rather play things on my PS4 than computer.
@TribbleCookie , we often get mistaken for The Sims, but here's really what I was talking about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play-by-post_role-playing_game The Sims does sound fun though!
It can take a lot of time, but it's cool to see how the story develops with multiple writers and perspectives. Also, you can't help but get to know each other through the process.
Shameless plug: If you ever want to give it a try, I recommend going with one of the groups I've written about at Outpost 42 News. https://outpost42news.com/ You can't go wrong with any of the groups linked to in the articles.
I will say that I'm a little surprised that no one here has simmed/role played before. Maybe they just haven't seen this thread.
I did try it at some point in a (German?) Lord of the Rings forum, although very casually. It wasn't quite for me, but I can sort of see the appeal. I think I do prefer the bespoke storytelling of a single GM (although I admit that I have a tendency to somewhat romanticize/glorify the role of the GM in classic pen & paper RPGs).
I used to do a Star Wars one by email when internet access was still a fairly new and novel thing for the general public. My dad made me quit and told me to go get a job instead. I was not legally old enough to get a job. Kor
Very interesting. Everyone's story is different. It turns out there's an entire recruitment board on here dedicated to it.
