How is it more speculative than the rest?though that part is admittedly more speculative.

I'm not sure it plays any specific 'role'. Though PIC implied a hole in the skull behind it for some reason.
The distinction is that the first part is an extrapolation from established biological principles and real-world analogues applied to a canonical environment, whereas the latter proposes an additional function without direct analogue or evidence. Both involve inference, but they’re not speculative to the same degree. How is it more speculative than the rest?![]()
Very interesting if there is a hole in the skull behind it. And I hadn’t noticed about the clavicle spoon!I'm not sure it plays any specific 'role'. Though PIC implied a hole in the skull behind it for some reason.
IF it serves any distinct purpose, I assume that doesn't also apply to the second spoon between the clavicles as seen on Natima Lang, as we saw at least one other female Cardassian without that second spoon.
Oh, nice! Thank you.Cardassia Prime is canonically hot and arid. Bone ridges close to the skin can increase surface area, help dissipate heat, and protect blood vessels near the brain. Real-world examples include elephant ears and vascular ridges in some reptiles. Since Cardassians resemble vipers, the reptile comparison seems especially plausible.
The groove shape also suggests it could house pressure-sensitive nerves, vibration receptors, or even temperature sensors. That might help with reading body language or detecting subtle movement. Given that Cardassians are portrayed as hyper-observant, suspicious, and strategically minded, the spoon could plausibly function as a kind of built-in early-warning system—though that part is admittedly more speculative.
There is some speculation that it could be their belly button
