Neither of them should be Director, for different reasons.

    The Koenigs for co-directorship!

Or are they too busy torturing a mug in a yellow jumpsuit with the world's worst movies?

Daisy should indeed be the Director...just not quite yet. She has too much fire to be able to take a back seat and she's more of a tactical thinker than a strategic one. Mind you, so is Mack; but while he may be my least favourite character out of the bunch, with May out of the picture he is the only other logical choice. After him though, it's either Simmons or Daisy for sure.

Mack is the most-level headed of the group and is able to see the bigger picture. I agree Daisy's future will lead to the directorship, but she's far from ready for it now.

Dang, Mack looks GOOD. He always looks good. He looks even more good. Like, really good.

Anyway, I just hope it isn't 'random hallway of the week' for next season.

For a while now I've been expecting the last scene of the series will be Daisy taking up the Directorship and mentoring a new group of young S.H.I.E.L.D recruits.

A piece of shit traitor who tried to destroy SHIELD (all because Admiral Adama was a senile shithead and told him too) is the Director SHIELD deserves at this point. He might want to watch out, though, what with everyone on AoS being turned into a Nazi and those kind of monsters not taking kindly to certain kinds of people (I don't care if it was just in the ripoff Matrix, they're forever Nazi's to me, just like the shitheads who wrote that offensive bullshit). Also, since the show is also a soap opera based on it ripping off Dallas, his evil twin might try to kill him, so that's something else to watch out for.

Thinking about it, since Mack is evil his twin would be Good Mack. Hell, Mack even has facial hair, he's been his own evil twin the whole time. Actually, never mind. That's way too interesting (and non-offensive) for Agents of SHIELD.

Sigh. I feel compelled by the power of Uatu to point out-since you didn't watch the Framework arc, that everyone was not turned into nazis.
    Framework Coulson was a teacher
Framework Mack was an honest dad living under the oppressive rule of evil HYDRA
    Framework Gemma had been killed
Framework Ward was in the resistance!!!!
Mace was leader of the resistance!

Only Fitz and May were assimilated into evil HYDRAnts, due to Aida, while Daisy's Framework persona as Altered- May's acolyte (prior to real Daisy being plugged in) leaned heavily towards resisting Aida's New World Order. Yo-Yo did not have a FW simulation.

There. In future posts, could you refrain from insisting that "everybody wuz nazis!" Please? Thank you.

Coulson was defending Nazi's as the "School Teacher". Or, to be more accurate, he was trying to pretend that Hydra aren't Nazi's (he must have school books written by Nick Spencer). So, yeah, everyone was basically a Nazi. Just because only two were active and most of the rest were civilian Nazi's doesn't mean shit. Plus, Ward was always a Nazi, and the simulation version was not an actual person, so you can't count him.

Anyone who can defend a show turning even 1 character into a Nazi, well, lets just say either needs to take a long look in the mirror, or is already on that monstrous side. Either way, after this post I'm probably not going to interact with anyone who is even unintentionally defending that kind of thing. You can't argue with people like that.

I'm relieved that Mack is still around, let alone that he's Director. He's been my favorite character ever since he was the only one to help Fitz with his brain damage.

Of course, this also makes me wonder what Coulson's status will be. And if we'll ever see Fury again, to see his reaction to how Coulson has handled the job.

I don't know, I've always thought Mack had a tendency to use his heart more than his head and can be surprisingly closed minded to things he decides he doesn't like. Sure, he's come around on a few things, but you pretty much have to drag him kicking and screaming into seeing literally anyone else's point of view. It may just be an artefact of the way the group dynamic has been written over the years, but he tends to come off as borderline self-righteous at times.

Not that I dislike the character or anything, but out of the core characters he is the one that's most often at loggerheads with other characters (usually Coulson.)

Ah, pure comedy gold. That's the only way to take all of this because there's no other sane way to take these posts.

Fair points. I agree he has been stubborn headed at times on certain things (I can see where he was coming from about AIs), but I think he's still able to be more rational than the rest, especially Daisy when she's got an axe to grind.

I'd say May, Simmons and even Fitz are much more rational than either Mack or Daisy. In the case of Simmons though, that rationality is almost dangerous since it also comes with a certain pragmatism that gives Fury a run for his money. May and Elena too to a certain extent. Mack, Daisy and to a point, Fitz are the idealists of the team.

As for Daisy; I'd say she's not irrational so much as she has a tendency to blinker herself when she's on a mission. She can see the big picture just fine, it's just the she's more goal oriented. A problem solver rather than a strategist.

How was this a spoiler? They revealed that at the end of the season (almost series) finale!

And it makes sense... the person most balanced -- and most willing to take on the responsibility. Though i agree with the person who SHOULD be the director at the END of the series...but should probably be field and/team director for this season

As much as I've loved the last two seasons, it's still surreal to me that the show that started out as a major disappointment to me* not only developed into one of the best superhero series on television but is also one of the few Marvel TV series left standing following the Great Netflix Purge of 2018.

There's just Runaways over on Hulu, Cloak & Dagger over on Freeform and the three upcoming Avengers spin-off miniseries over at Disney+. Oh, and FOX's The Gifted and FX's Legion on the X-Men side of things.

Or that it's by freaking far the longest running TV series in the MCU. Inhumans only lasted one season. Agent Carter, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher all lasted two. And Daredevil and Jessica Jones both lasted for three.

Even if you just count AoS's acclaimed fourth and fifth seasons, the series has still outlasted Daredevil and Jessica Jones by five whole episodes. That's wild. Good for Maurissa Tancharoen & Jed Whedon and Jeffrey Bell.

*I wanted it to be the Deep Space Nine/Angel of the MCU. Taking characters and concepts the mainline series didn't want and running with them in an ambitious, character-driven serialized epic. It eventually became what I wanted once Hydra was wrapped up and they no longer had to set-up Ike Perlmutter's Inhumans. To be fair though, DS9 and Angel didn't start out so hot either.
