The way I unterstand it, it's now an omniverse with different clusters of multiverses. I'm also under the impression that the current main universe, called Earth-0, is post-crisis Earth which had its timeline altered by Dr. Manhattan.
Yeah, I'd say it's just a cluster in the omniverse directly related to the current cluster. Like that one anti-matter universe was part of the pre-crisis multiverse.
Is it a fake out death? I can't believe they would do that again, after all the fanfare of the return. That makes no sense at ALL.

Spoiler: The Big Spoiler in Heroes in Crisis The entire Rebirth concept was based around Wally's return and his symbolizing the wonder and optimism of the DC universe that had been taken away. There was a huge deal about the return of the original Titans, and now that is just being thrown out the window before his story line is even completed? Also, to a lesser extent, Arsenal makes no sense in this context. What's more, their deaths happen off screen? It would have made a lot more sense to have Kyle or Ryan Choi or somebody die to be honest. I kind of feel how i did when Tasha Yar died--I didn't really believe it was permanent until the credits rolled on that episode.
DC has announced the creative teams for Detective Comics #1000, and it's quite impressive. The new regular team of Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Mahnke provide a story that will introduce the Arkham Knight character to the DC Universe proper. Then there'll be a two-page spread by "Three Jokers" artist Jason Fabok mapping the current state of the Batman universe. Further stories are done by: - Kevin Smith & Jim Lee - Brian Michael Bendis & Alex Maleev - Warren Ellis & Becky Cloonan - Paul Dini & Dustin Nguyen - Denny O'Neil* & Steve Epting (a sequel to O’Neil’s 1976 Detective Comics story “There’s No Hope in Crime Alley”) - Christopher Priest & Neal Adams - Geoff Johns & Kelley Jones - Tom King, Tony Daniel & Joëlle Jones - Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo - James Tynion IV and Alvaro Martinez *They got both Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams, but they still didn't re-unite this legendary team of teams?! So fucking close, DC! Anyway, several awesome writers and artists right there, with some of my personal favorites. Would have been nice to get a new story by Chuck Dixon & Graham Nolan, as well, but this is already plenty. Green Arrow #50 will be the end of the current series, but not the last we see of Oliver Queen. According a tweet from writer Jason Lanzing, the series is ending because "the universe has other plans. Very cool, very wild plans".
I'm excited for Detective 1000. But am generally underwhelmed by the covers. Action 1000 had so many good ones, this is a bit disappointing to me.
Not much of a Batman guy these days, but I do like pulp art, so that Steve Rude one is probably my fave.
A friend lent me her Batman comics, which were my introduction to Tom King. Between that and scans I've seen of Heroes in Crisis, I've grown to dislike his dialogue. It's pretty much what drives me nuts about Grey's Anatomy, dialogue that's clipped, repetitious, and focused on monologues directed at another character. Sometimes it's more apparent, but other times it's a repeated word or phrase. You can see it in these scans. On another note, I'm inching closer to finishing the trades of the Tomasi Superman Rebirth trades, as I recently got Superman Reborn. I love them so much. Seeing what Bendis has done to the characters makes me angry!
What I personally hate may actually not be his, but the editor's fault, is how the things he does to the characters keep messing with other books by other writers. The writers of Nightwing clearly had a plan, but were hit so out of left field when Dick was shot in King's Batman that they quit. And I'm surprised that Abnett hasn't left Titans by now considering King has taken half the cast away from him. I've actually dropped Titans because of it. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the issue-to-issue attention-grabbing stunts and wait where the arc is going. You're currently reading the Tomasi series in trades and seem to enjoy it, but reading it issue for issue instead of trades collecting a whole arc in one instead of having to wait for the next issue(s) to see how something is resolved, you won't be affected by some of the seemingly shocking twists that turn out not to be such a big deal. If you're currently reading "Superman Reborn", you're probably not there yet, but at one point ... Spoiler: ...during Tomasi's run ... ... it appeared that Manchester Black turned Jon evil and amputated one of Lois' legs. It turned out to be okay by the end of the arc.
In the past, though, it was the editor's job to inform other editorial teams and writers of other books of coming changes. This was not the case here. Most likely the editorial team was too afraid of spoilers leaking online and chose to keep it under wraps, and the bestselling Batman book and the hugely hyped event book have higher priority than books like Nightwing and Titans.
Good point, I get what you're saying, but I haven't been the biggest fan of Bendis' writing in general, so yeah, it's harder to trust everything will work out. Reading trades I'm used to knowing spoilers and I've seen that one, which is somewhat similar to what Manchester Black did back in the early 2000's Spoiler: Endgame He made it seem that Lois was dead and that Superman killed him in retaliation. It turned out to be okay by the end of the arc.
Well, two months ago, I dropped Green Arrow, and sure enough, the series ends with #50 (which means I'll have to get the remaining issues, I mean, it's just four more issues). Then, in December, I dropped Titans, and sure enough, the newly released solicitations for April list #36 as the final issue. *Sigh!*
I finally finished reading Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps (which I quite enjoyed) and read the fist 4 issues of Grant Morrison's Green Lantern. I didn't care for the first issue at all but the next three were better. I am a little annoyed how he's seemingly just chucked out a lot of events from the previous series, particularly as it relates to the closing arc. Spoiler: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps final arc The whole premise of the last arc was that killing is wrong and Hal vigorously defended this point of view, and then he just turns around and does the same thing in the new series. The story Morrison is telling feels like it would have been better as part of the Rebirth launch. Taking place now just feels a bit out of place IMO.
I liked the first few issues of Morrison's GL as well, and I kinda like the police procedural approach Morrison is taking. To say nothing about the absolutely gorgeous art by Liam Sharp. But, yes, it does feel quite different than the two previous books. Maybe this would have been better served as an out-of-canon book under the Black Label imprint.
Leave it to Morrison to go off and do his own thing, ignoring in-universe continuity... I like Morrison's stuff but I would much rather see him stick to Elseworlds or books that are not set in the main universe.
