December 31, 2019 is on a Tuesday, and Trek novels are almost always released on Tuesdays.

Glad to see David Mack has something for Star Trek lined up in the future. Looking forward to all the upcoming books, and I keep checking on Beyer's "To Lose the Earth" to see if there's any announced release date but so far no dice.

I notice the novels are a bit more staggered, as in there won't be a book every month. Not sure if that will be permanent or if it's just a side effect of such a long layoff and them just trying to get back in the swing of things. Time will tell. Though, as I keep harping on it, I'm not sure I could fork over $16 every month. I'd probably have to start picking and choosing what books to buy instead of buying all of them and skipping others until a later date maybe.

Glad to see another follow up to Section 31 is in the works though. I'd love to see more Enterprise books as well, but I'm not as confident in that since I believe most of the future novels will be more focused on existing and future series and there are no upcoming plans that I could see to have a show anywhere near Enterprise's time frame.

I'm wondering if this is a foreign edition of one of their existing novels. Sometimes they are years behind the US editions. I looked on Amazon in the US and even did a Memory Alpha search and found no references to this. I'd love to see a new book in the Academy Series but I'm not holding out much hope for that.

The Japanese site mentions it's in English.

Just as an FYI the series is called Dark Arts, not Magician.
When you say he's rewriting, do you just mean he's going to finish the third one, or is he actually going back and doing a new version of one of the other two?
Have you read the first Dark Arts book, The Midnight Front? It's awesome and even though there is time jump, based on the excerpt in TMF, The Iron Codex seems to pick up quite a few threads from it.
Amazon isn't a reliable source when it comes to this kind of thing, so I wouldn't get to excited until this appears somewhere else.

Oh, sorry. If it wasn't public, then maybe I should leave it to Dave to answer if he wants.

Close. I'm rewriting the second half of book three, The Shadow Commission. It was my decision to do so, based on feedback from my agent. She pointed out some concerns, and I realized that to address them properly was not something that could be done with a sentence here or a scene there — it would require me to rethink the structure and narrative of the second half of the manuscript.

Because the book was not yet in production, I made the call the pull back what I had thought was a finished manuscript so that I could revise it and bring it up to what I considered an acceptable level of quality for publication. Fortunately for me, my editor granted me permission to do so, and helped amend the book's production schedule and release date to make it possible.

It's a good thing you had time to go back and fix it.

Well, I did … and I didn't. My decision to rewrite resulted in the book's publication being postponed five months from my original release date. But I'm okay with that since it means it will be a better book.

I'll gladly wait longer if it means we get a better book.
