Women’s issues - bodily functions and such

I started writing something about menstrual issues in the things that frustrate us all thread but stopped since some might find it icky. I generally don’t think we should have to spoiler mark messages about menstruation since it’s normal bodily functions most women have or once had. But I also don’t want to make people uncomfortable. So, if I start a thread dedicated to such things, people can avoid it if they find these things icky. Win-win!

Last week when I was at a meeting at work and I realised that I was bleeding through my pants. Big time! Thankfully, I was sitting on a wooden chair at the meeting and it was at the end of the day so I could go home to change directly after the meeting. I suspect most of us, who have periods, have had at least one such incident.

So, let’s talk about our bodily functions! :)

My main issue was getting fat every once in a while. Intellectually I know that I'm not the only one. During that time I can't stand women with flat bellies or ab muscles. It's nothing personal. I'm moody and I hate it. My sister is the skinny kind of woman and has a child. She never had a protruding belly. During her pregnancy she had a firm baby bump. My belly looks like I'm a mother of three children. But I guess that's how it is. Bad genes. Age of 40.
I know things will look different and better next week......

My sister has three children and she's as thin as a rake, and she both drinks more than I do and eats worse, I don't get it (I am two years older than her, so I don't know if that makes a big difference or something). I don't really get much of a belly, but my thighs will expand like crazy if you look at them the wrong way.

Have you ever gone to the beach when you're on your period? I was having a really bad month in August and I was so extremely uncomfortable, and your swimsuit doesn't give you a lot of room for error lol. And then there's a huge line at the women's restroom ... I was seriously thinking about just going to the men's room to change my tampon.

We really should stop to compare us with others. Otherwise I would get crazy. Luckily I'm not overweight. I know there are women who are and people say they should lose weight, but they can't because of metabolic or hormone problems.

Speaking of undies, did any of you have "period panties?" In other words, undies that you might have thrown away but have saved for the heavy flow days.

Yep. They are butt ugly and unsexy as hell. Never to be seen by anyone except me....:D

I have period panties too, they are the ugliest and most worn out ones I own but they fit perfect for that specific purpose.

I think this is purely due to genetics, despite you and your sister obviously sharing many genes. I have two friends who are sisters and only about 3 years apart and they couldn't be more different from each other in terms of build, metabolism, etc.

Pretty much all my underwear is silky with lace around the openings, I haven't bought new panties in a few years, and my ex liked when I wore things like that, and I've grown very comfortable wearing them.

I don't have "period panties", but I have a routine for when my period's coming on, I start wearing overnight pads a day or two before I'm expecting. I very strictly monitor my cycles for natural birth control, and I've pretty much always been very accurate knowing when I'm about to start. Oh and if you don't already have a bidet, I totally recommend getting one, I find it's amazing with cleanup, especially first thing in the morning.

Oh dear, I'm totally not ready for menopause yet, I'd at least like to have a baby first!

I'm ovulating right now, and my boyfriend was joking with me last night again about my pheromones. He claims he can tell when I'm ovulating because he says my sexiness gets out of control, lol. He's not always right but he's cute and he makes me feel good, so I don't correct him when he's wrong.

That's very cute, actually. :luvlove:

Well, I have to say that after you get through the mood swings and hot flashes, menopause is great!!

Never had a hot flash. Didn't even know I was IN menopause 'til my doctor told me I was one-third through it. Of course at the time I was 42, so that was about a decade early.

It did mess with the emotions though and I ran warm, meaning I always had the family room fan on at warp speed.

Glad I never got the flashes or the sweats from them though.

USS Firefly, I'd beat my husband's ass if he took my undies! He'd stretch 'em out of shape! Underwear is expensive.

Hmm good point, I am going to kick her ass for using my shorts!
Even though my underwear only cost 4 Euro :)
