News Season One hitting DVD/Blu-Ray in November

Now that there are 8KTVs...

CBS has really dropped the ball this time. Why would I settle buying this show on a format for peasants? It probably only has 7.2 surround sound as well. It's laughable that those lower class scoundrels expect me to pay for such feeble presentation.

Anyway, I have more pressing matters to attend to. I must...just must remodel my 4th bedroom. I just don't like the shade of white that is on the wall. Must be the tenth time I have painted it.

With this being released in the US tomorrow and in Europe next week its a bit odd no reviews have appeared on line? Normally these can appear the day before or even a week before release. In fact very odd that some people haven't actually received their copies in the US, there are always at least a few people around that post up that they have received it. Is this a sign of the low pre-orders?

I am keen to know is the transfer good, is the sound lossless and does it make good use of the surrounds? Also there are supposed to be a couple of hours worth of special features.

I pre-ordered it last Tuesday from Best Buy. Usually Best Buy ships my pre-orders on the Wednesday or Thursday before the release date but this time...nothing. It said pending through Saturday morning so I canceled it. I know a few people have mentioned the same thing happened to them as well. It's weird. Hopefully it's in stores tomorrow.

I preordered the steelbook from Best Buy, and I won't have it today. I got an email this morning saying it was delayed. I had ordered things from them in the past, and got it when they said I would, but not this time. I'll be near one of the stores tomorrow, and if they have it in store I'll buy it there. I'm very tempted to cancel the preorder now. I didn't like how the email was worded anyway.

It's like $35 US on amazon right now.
I call that Highway Robbery.
Not buying it until it's 20 bucks.
I take it you never bought the other Star Trek shows that came out at $100. a season? Compared to that, $35. is more than reasonable.

$35 for a Blu-ray season is a pretty good price for a new show. It's difficult to call something highway robbery when watch episode costs around 8 million.

I still remember the days of £10.99 per VHS for two episodes.

If anyone does get it today would really love to hear feedback on what the transfer is like.

I caved and pre-ordered the steelbook from Best Buy on the weekend. No shipping notification yet.

That’s the standard price for any new TV season on blu-ray.

In Canada it’s $53, but our dollar sucks right now, so yeah

$53 is criminal. I already spend $100 US for CBS All Access each year.
F*** this sh*t.
I may not buy it at all now, or buy it "used" because again, F*** this.

No, I bought all the DVDs & blu-rays, but I'm not buying this for that when I already spend $100 US for the streaming app. No way in hell.

Bought the Season 1 steelbook from Best Buy. Got The Meg in 3D too. I am kind of bummed there is no digital copy included, but thats obvious given CBS' push for AA.

I can't really complain much about the price. I bought the TNG season blu rays for $20 a piece, paid $100 for the TOS 50th box set, and I think $80 for the complete series of enterprise.

Before that, in the early 2000s, for DVDs I paid about $100 a season for most of TNG and all of DS9. I bought a few seasons of voyager when they released, but I eventually gave up and then netflix started streaming. I think Circuit City sold some sets for as high as $140.00 per season. I always felt that was a lot of money at the time, but it was exciting to finally own the show on DVD.

In hindsight, I wish I didn't spend that much money on Trek DVDs.
