I have to admit, I wasn't too thrilled with the first couple of episodes, but the story and character work is honestly interesting and they're doing a better job of using the DC Universe than WB's film division (IMO).

I really enjoyed the last two episodes and want to see the next one.

Just watched the last episode and, wow, Robin held him own against 4 super-powered adversaries. Probably he's one of the best non-powered fighter in the Titans universe (I mean, it's not like Hawk and Dove did a great job with the Nuclear family...)

They snapped his bo staff in two, so he's becoming more Nightwingy every day ;)

That's pretty consistent with the comics. I think I just read a scene to that effect in the New Teen Titans Vol. 8 trade paperback, where Marv Wolfman's narration talks about how Nightwing is able to hold his own against any superpowered foe because he's just that good. Which makes sense, of course, since he was trained from childhood by Batman, and had the added advantage of already being a gifted acrobat before then.

Since I got busted by comcast for downloading the first episode, I went ahead and purchased a month of DC Universe. Now ive never watched the cartoon or read the comic's etc, so im new to Titans. So what has me hooked is Raven and the whole supernatural element of it. As you can see by my <--- pic I love the show Supernatural. Anyway im caught up to episode 5 and have a few questions. Is this show mainly going to focus on Raven and the demon trying to get out of her and that battle or is it just an excuse to give her demon powers? I mean I like Robin/Nightwing and interested in the whole other Robin storyline but Raven is why me and my family are hooked. Will they show Batman later?
I didn't care for the Hawk/Dove stuff though Dove is hot as hell. The crew that was in that house with Beast Boy was kinda lame and don't care for them at all. So hope they don't show up much.

This show is what Arrow should of been like. Bloody, creepy, adultlike with the swearing. Just hope they keep with good writing and next season they go more episodes.

If the crew you're referring to is The Doom Patrol, they're getting their own show.

That has been the main thing driving the ongoing plot so far, but just to clarify, that black thing she's trying to control isn't a demon, that's her "soul self", kinda like an astral projection thingy, that's her. The demon mentioned is her father, Trigon, and he's trying to break through to Earth.

    Probably not this season.

I believe they were useful because they showed the large gap between Robin and the rest of non-powered super-heroes. Yes, the Nuclear Family caught them by surprise, still they were outclassed on every level.

In fairness, they were shown to be a duo in which one of them was quite honestly well past his prime. Not unlike a veteran boxer, Hawk was really suffering from the long term accumulation of both major and minor injuries, hence the whole "one last job" plot point. This is of course partly why Dove was the one that caught the worst of it, since she was having to over extend herself to cover for Hawk's shortfalls.

So while yes, Robin is the superior fighter, it's not like Hawk and Dove were chronically unskilled either. Plus of course Robin was specifically trained to be able to punch above his weight and to be able to take on multiple opponents single handed, whereas H&D are by design at their best when fighting as a cohesive unit, with their radically different styles complimenting each other.

Maybe this will lead to Hawk and Dove getting their powers?

    Hawk getting his powers?

    How peculiar.

This show has been getting better and better, in all honesty.

Absolutely loved their take on Jason Todd. What a little shit.

Not for nothing, this was the character that fans famously voted to have murdered to death in the comics (so I guess we have that to look forward to as well!) Mostly from what I gather, because he was indeed an obnoxious little gobshite.

I have to agree. I honestly wonder if they are leading up to doing a take on "Red Mask" if the series lasts a few seasons. But yeah, I really liked their take on Jason Todd here.

I hope we see more of that Batmobile first. :D

If they were to do Red Hood I reckon they'd make it a separate show though.

Yeah, that glimpse of the Batmobile was pretty tantalising. Like an ultra-sleek cross between the BTAS & 60's Lincoln Futura designs. Of course because it was such a fleeting glance I suspect it's the a static (perhaps even only partial) mock-up that won't hold up to a more detailed look.

I don't know that much about Jason Todd as Robin (other than his demise and being replaced by Tim Drake) but what the hells was Batman smoking when he took Todd on as the new Robin?

Was he the one Batman recruited after he caught him trying to steal the Batmobile's hubcaps?

Yep (same backstory on the show).

It's interesting how we've only "seen" Bruce from Dick's and Jason's perspective on the show, and the difference in his attitude towards them illustrates how he's trying but he really spectacularly sucks at parenting... Bruce was strict and controlling with Dick as Robin, he turned him into a weapon and that ended up how it ended up, so now with Jason he's trying to be less so, when Jason really needs some control in his life...
