Must all Short Treks be DSC-only?

DSC is the current iteration of Star Trek, so it makes sense. As the new series come along, they could always make more of them with the new series in mind.

If it wasn't confirmed as a multiseason thing, I'd have thought it'd be a really gritty character drama about Picard's final days.

That's really not Picard. I'm not a TNGer so I can't exactly speak for them, but somehow I don't think that's quite what they were hoping for when they heard there'd be a Picard Series, either.

Do we have a premise for the Picard show? I haven't been paying much attention.

Partying like it's 2399. ;)

Would be cool to show some TNG and DS9 shorts. I suppose it all depends on availability and rights.

they have the sets for DSC so it's easier to use those. I don't think these are high budget affairs.
And they don't have to use Cawley's TOS set, if they wanted to do that. There is a perfectly good one in Georgia, on a show that a certain executive producer of DSC considers canon. :)

Well according to some news outlets, the Short Treks are there to help shop the show around to international media distributors. Only one buyer so far, though.

Um yes, that 'one buyer' is NETFLIX which distributes the show via it's platform WORLDWIDE (except for the U.S.A. and Canada).

Seriously, where do you come up with this c**p? (IE post some links to the stories on this from the 'news outlets' you speak of?)

Actually no, Netflix opted NOT to pick up the Short Treks.

Given your overtly-hostile-for-no-reason response, though, I'll leave it to you to go figure out who did pick it up internationally. Dickishness will get you no where.

The Cawley set in Ticonderoga, NY is WAY closer to Toronto, though - where a lot of cast and crew are based at present.
