Series 11 News & Spoilers

When RTD or Moffat (and their writers) delivered a bad episode, you could still never accuse it of being "bland" or "unimaginative".
I've accused many episodes of the Moffat era of being exactly that. Just how many storylines did we get about the Doctor's imminent death which got conveniently averted? I'm not even going to start on whatever the hell the Hybrid was supposed to be.

The Hybrid was actually a metaphor for 12 and Clara's unhealthy and destructive relationship. Not the best arc, admittedly, but people keep going "they never resolved it or revealed what it was!" because they either weren't paying attention or were expecting some kind of CGI monster.

They should have just said the Hybrid was the Doctor. After all, he is half human on his mother's side. With that in mind, it would make a lot more sense if legends about a Hybrid destroying Gallifrey were a motivating factor for the Doctor's original departure from Gallifrey.

So in 30 years her child will guest star on doctor who and marry the 22nd doctor?

Agreed, it was resolved, it was just too stupid of a resolution to be worth remember. I don't blame people for forgetting.

No, it wasn't resolved. Its infered to be Clara and the Doctor, but even Alshidir, at the end of the universe, doesn't seem to know. Its a mystery that is a mystery for the sake of being a mystery of being a mystery. That wasn't a typo.

You've got to love old Uncle Rupert's Hate Rags. According to 'The Sun' the new series is flopping bacause it's too PC and Preachy.

Now I know they say that women have to work twice as hard as men to earn the same respect but if being in the Top 3-5 shows for the week and having a 47% increase in viewers over last series is a failure I'd love to know their definition of success.

As Hey Missy notes, the Doctor more or less confirms that he fulfilled the hybrid prophecy himself with that dialogue. Moffat has mentioned his intention is for the hybrid prophecy to have been fulfilled by Doctor and Clara, though I think that seems retroactive and Moffat making the "Doctor's quest to save Clara makes him the hybrid" into the more overt "Doctor and Clara." Honestly, though, I fail to see how it can be interpreted as anything beyond Moffat soft-confirming the Doctor being half-human.

"That's your best theory? I'm the hybrid. I ran away from Gallifrey because I was afraid of myself? That doesn't make any sense."
"That makes perfect sense and you know it. Am I right? Is it true?"
"Does it matter?"

The Doctor doesn't deny it, it fits all the evidence and it sure as hell makes more sense than either Me or Doctor/Clara.

God, I hate people blaming Jodie for Series 11’s low quality! She’s not writing the thing, Chibnall is! Blame him! It’s like Colin Baker all over again...

Series 11 isn't low quality.
It certainly isn’t low quality. It’s highly polished. It’s also taken the direction I’d hoped it would take when 11 said he’d become too loud. Smaller stakes stories with a lot more thought and character, but I’m finding that I maybe didn’t want that after all. Bring back the bombast, a little.

What I am finding though, is that Jodie’s accent sounds fake to me, put on, exaggerated. Which is annoying, because the Doctor should have had a Yorkshire accent from day one, along with every other time lord that appeared in the series. Robert Delgado, the Master, talking like Spare Head 3. Bliss.

Series isn't over yet.
