Series 11 News & Spoilers

One complaint that I have: Its bad enough we get a shortened season, but I thought all the episodes were gonna be hour long? I was disappointed to have found out last week that that wasn't the case.

No, they were clear all along, one hour premiere with the rest of the season being fifty minute long episodes. There was a rumour at one point they would all be one hour, but I think that was debunked relatively early on.

I'm not sure she should ever, unless River has no idea who 13 is, which could make for an emotional episode for the Doctor. As far as we can tell River only met 1-11 before the Husbands of River Song. She and 12 then went on their extremely long date and then she went to the library. Not sure where you could fit in River meeting and acknowledging 13 unless she took a day trip away from 12? Or else I think you're in memory wipe territory.

The day trip or a data ghost would probably be the way to do it, though interestingly in the same episode River says something like “Do you know who you remind me of? My second wife!”.

Personally, though, I think the last several minutes of The Husbands Of River Song provided wonderful closure for the character.

They do keep meeting out of order. She could have met Jodie before Peter but never discovered which number she was. Of course, this wouldn'r explain why River didn't have a picture of 13 (15) in her wallet.

This. Not everything should be revisited. Not every story was meant to go on forever. Endings have meaning.
I agree, but I think that the main reason people want to see more of River Song is that Alex Kingston has managed to have such wonderful chemistry with each of the Doctor's she's been paired with, and it would definitely be interesting (if unnecessary) to see her with Jodie Whittaker.

Oh, I understand why. Kingston is so utterly charming. Whitaker and her would have a lovely time. I want to see it to. But, I shouldn’t get everything I want.

I learned that from the Star Wars prequels.

Apparently episode 9 is called (the) Witch Finders - I'd guess that'll be the Alan Cumming as King James episode.

That raises an interesting question -- is Cumming playing James pre-1603 or post-1603? James VI/I's treatise on witchcraft, Deamonologie, was published in 1597, before he ever ascended to the English throne. I was also assuming, based on the "guest stars" trailer, that Downton Abbey's Siobhan Finneran is playing his wife, Anne of Denmark, and their relationship post-1603, when James discovered the joys of pretty English boys, was polite but strained, and they didn't live together after about 1607.

In short, I wonder if this episode is set in Scotland, before Elizabeth's death and before James adds the English crown to his head.
