What We Left Behind - Documentary Update Confirms *Some* HD Remastering

Saw the NYC premiere, and agreed with everyone else who's seen it.

Also, there's something that came up in the documentary and which I was able to speak with Ira (listen to me, calling him Ira like we're old friends...) about very briefly, which really elevated my opinion of the man (which to be sure was pretty high to begin with). I feel like posting that here may constitute a spoiler, but if anyone's just dying of curiosity, I'm willing to share via PM. It's not behind-the-scenes info especially, so don't get your hopes up in that regard, but it factored directly into how he signed the complimentary poster that was given away to attendees.

Seriously though, if you consider yourself at all a DS9...this may not be a DS9 movie, but it's more of everything than I expected going in. Get yourself a copy.

I wasn't sure whether spending the amount of money necessary to secure a ticket to the premiere was really a good purchase at the time, but in retrospect, I'm so glad I did.

The thread title literally does this. The DS9 documentary is called "What We Left Behind".

Your confusion probably arises from the fact the the series finale bears the very similar name of "What You Leave Behind".
Yes, I misread it, sorry.

Went and saw the NY premier and it was - okay. Nothing really great to write home about, it seemed very much a "rah, rah" kinda thing about how great the show
was and honestly, I got the weird feeling that the whole thing was just a veiled commercial for Ira Behr somehow. The virtual series 8 stuff was cute but nothing more than that.
Was upset that the tech folks weren't given more screen time (Okuda & Drexler). Best parts were Andy Robinson popping his head in every so often, and seeing Aron
Eisenberg getting heartfelt/choked up in his introspection. The hate letters being read were pretty fun to see.

If you are a die-hard fan I would pick this up - but I will pass because I was expecting something more.

I missed the fundraising campaign for this documentary, but I do wish I could have contributed. DS9 was the first and only Trek series I ever completely owned on DVD, and it was my first time seeing the series from start to finish as well. I was able to catch a few episodes on broadcast, but in my area of New England it was on Fox at something like 2:00a.m. during the week, and sometimes 4:00p.m. on the weekends. Even then I only saw a few episodes. (Ironically, the first episode of DS9 that I remember seeing was "What You Leave Behind".) I'm very interested in purchasing a copy. Does anyone know if it will be made available for public release/purchase?

dacheeze, does the doc have any appreciation for the 1st 3 seasons or is this all about seasons 4 thru 7 and the faux 8?

I apologize for the new thread. I'd post this in one of the documentary threads, but the most recent one I can find is the one I started about HD footage, which is three pages back. The main documentary thread is nine pages back. Would it be considered too much of a bump if I posted in one of them? If necessary, please merge this with one of the other threads.

But I wanted to post to say that I got an email from the documentary team asking to confirm my shipping address.

The text is below.

I wonder how close they are to finishing the documentary, if they're sending this email out now.

I'm really looking forward to getting this & watching it! They've been pretty good about keeping backers updated throughout the process.

@Eric Cheung, it’s not a problem. However, as you pointed out, we do have quite a few documentary threads on the go right now. It might be worth creating one mega-thread to gather all the information we have and keep it pinned at the top of the forum. I’m open to suggestions.

Yeah, I couldn't find any other active threads, though. Do you have the links to them? The only ones I saw were several pages back. The former megathread is like 9 pages back. I would have posted in there, but bumping is frowned upon, right?
