Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Thank you! Here are some pics of the mock-ups that were made with input of Bob Kline, the original designer as well as Doug Drexler, Rick Sternbach & John Eaves.

I'm actually a little sad that's a CG model there on the shelf pic. :(

Still, great work - and an interesting podcast too!

Thank you! I think we're going to make a 3-D print for ourselves and we've offered the model to Eaglemoss anytime they want produce it so who knows! Maybe with a new animated series they can do a classics/current set of animated ships?

This seems to have disappeared. :(

I’m anxious to make sure what I get is actually the Glenn. My shipping email states it is & it was supposed to come today. The USPS tracking shows delivered at 1:47pm today but no package.

We’re having a lot of rain today so I’m hoping the mailman was just lazy & didn’t want to get out of his truck today. Hopefully it shows up tomorrow.

Not sure it was an error. There were a couple of other surface changes too, the most obvious being the extra detailing on the warp engines that resembled the engines on Riker's E-D dreadnaught in AGT. Are you saying the neck coloring was an error in the texture mapping? Fascinating - I hadn't heard that before, and thought it was completely intentional, as a kind of fleet designation marking/war paint.
the extra phaser arrays were only present on the USS venture which was footage of the 4-foot enterprise-d filmed for "way of the warrior" and then reused in a few other episodes (according to MA it's the last filmed appearance of the enterprise model). the CGI ships don't have the extra phasers.

i did some research and couldn't confirm whether the dark gray necks were intentional or an error - but i thought that i'd read somewhere it was an issue stemming from the conversion of the ILM "star trek generations" asset to whatever rendering software DS9 used at the time. but who knows?

20% off this weekend in the US on everything in the store - no restrictions! Use code "LOWERDECKS". Just ordered Landed BOP, Shuttles Series 4 and Star Trek Shipyards 2151-2293. Still no Glenn available, though.

That would be neat - the shuttle designs from TAS were kinda funky, it'd be cool to see them as physical models.

What are the odds that Eaglemoss will make the other guest starships within the same class already released that appeared in the shows? Like the Ambassador class Zhukov? Intrepid class Bellerophon? Galaxy class Yamato or Odyssey?

Zhukov was altered in comparison to the Enterprise-C. See link below (author also missed that they shortened the nacelle pylons). It's a deep cut, for sure, but we might see it some day.

The Yamato, Bellerophon, and Odyssey are all bog-standard ships; they didn't alter the hero ships. They've mostly avoided decal swaps. I doubt we'll see them.

I thought the dark areas were left over from the Gal-X model or something.

I don't think there is an official answer out there.

Interesting fact that some people don't realize or notice, is while those pieces are the same ones from the AGT Enterprise, they're actually flipped around compare to it.

Notice the position of the phaser array, it's in the front on the Venture

Keen eye. I've never noticed the reversal. A Venture would be cool, even if they just use the AGT nacelles.

Those CGI Galaxies also had the saucer impulse engines glowing red. The Enterprise only did that when the saucer was separated.
always been a pet peeve when i see those saucer impulse engines running. the “these are the voyages” enterprise had the same issue and that was a new, carefully constructed CG model.

I asked people's opinion about doing this on the Facebook page and seemed like people weren't too keen on that happening. I do think the Zhukov is different enough that you could get away with it, but I think the Columbia NX-02 would be more likely to happen. Personally, I'd also like a runabout without the top pod. (Maybe label it the Rio Grande).

There's plenty of pet peeves to go around when it comes to "These Are the Voyages".

In other news, this weekend in the Central Canada Comic Con (or C4). I haven't had much luck at acquiring models there over the years. Apart from a Dauntless I picked up a couple years back at the spring con the same people put on, the only one I got at this con was the 3-pack of the C, D, and E, which I purchased (despite already having a "D"), thinking it was my only chance of getting the C and E, with no idea that they'd come out with re-released of all the Enterprises within a year and a half.

Anyway, this year turned out to be a bit of a tease and I talk to a guy on Friday who had just sold an NX-01 (which I already have) and a Pasteur (which I do not have!) earlier that day. :brickwall: (Though, to be fair, I might not have gotten it anyway, since he apparently didn't have the magazine, which has been a deal-breaker for me in the past). I don't seem to have much luck getting these locally. There's apparently too little demand around here to get a lot in, but just enough demand for people to scoop up the few that are around. The good news is I managed to get another binder cover. I was happy about this because the prices on eBay for what is essentially a piece of cardboard are truly obscene.

One other sidenote, looking at the models I have, I've said before that the Bozeman is in the same scale as the Reliant (and not the slightly larger Saratoga), but what I just noticed is that the Bozeman's nacelle are in fact longer than the Reliant and in scale with those of the Saratoga. Certainly no deal-breaker, but I'm slightly curious which one is right. I can't imagine they ever bothered to extend the ones on the filming model at any point.

Well, that's my general rambling for the day.

Edited to add: According to the Memory Alpha page, we'll also be getting the Nightingale. I really didn't like that episode in general and turning the Fed/Maquis fighter into a much larger alien ship was one of Trek's most ridiculous recycles, so that's a bit of a downer. I also read that the Jem'Hadar battleship may finally be made... as an XL ship, which are out of my price range, so that's a bit of a disappointment as well.

Apparently the mailman delivered my Glenn to my neighbors house. Neighbor knocked on the door about 6pm tonight & had my package in his hand. Solves two days of me obsessing about where it was at.

Looks like it is the same one that was at the conventions. Glad to be able to get it & avoid EBay prices.

You're lucky you managed to snag one. Still out of stock in the store and their email notifications have never functioned properly in all the years I've been a customer. :sigh: Maybe one day...

I recently watched a youtube video review of the Discovery model and it highlighted a flaw in the model, the nacelles split in half towards the rear of the nacelle (the top and bottom halves) how bad is this issue? Has anyone else had that happen?

The Discoprise is now up on the Eaglemoss site for £50. I would order but I’m not sure if the subscription will automatically buy it for me.

It’s a special ship from our perspective but should be part of the ‘regular’ Specials subscription.
