I don't get the Miss Piggy comparisons (nor the other offensive ones some posters have spewed).
Because you're not thinking like a DSC hater. Now that L'Rell looks more like a traditional Klingon woman, there's a scramble to find some other reason to criticize the character's looks -- "I know, Miss Piggy!"

Means nothing, of course, especially so considering Mary Chieffo's performance of the character is so great. :)

Klingon ridges are supposed to be made of bone, right? It seems odd to me that the ridges continue down to the chest area, which is presumably not bony. That would look better smooth. Otherwise, L'rell looks just fine.

Gotta censor those to be shown on TV somehow. :D

It's hard to believe that the Klingons can't figure out how to take out a terrorist usurping their government.
Agreed. You’d have thought a culture that embraces death the way they do wouldn’t be scared of a bomb beneath the planet’s crust that could flood the planet with liquid hot magma... they’d just keep throwing warriors at L’Rell until they ran out of warriors.

Besides, using a terror plot to subdue the population isn’t very honourable. What would Kahless say?

Also L’Rell looks awesome with hair and her new costume. I’m glad they’ve made this change to the Klingons.

Otherwise the response in some quarters seems to be:

If (Discovery_on tv = true) then run {dsc_trash.exe}

I'm sure absolutely no one here has anything against Chiefo, she is doing great job. Some people have something against the make up department though. But as I said earlier, the unnatural look in this particular pic might be due overaggressive photoshopping, they have managed to make people without any make up effects to look like they're made out of plastic in their publicity photos before.

Ribs, Clavicle, Sternum...

She looks fine. The male equivalent of Miss Piggy wouldn't have been posted if she were a man. And everyone here knows it.

That having been said, Miss Piggy looks good dressed up as a Disco Klingon.

I dunno....is there a thing between Saru and say Kermit? What is the male equivalent of miss piggy? Pej from beyond goood and evil?

She looks...ok. But that overall look is not very flattering, and I liked her look in series one. Part of the problem is how the hair looks like a wig, because of how pale the face make up is. And they should have gone more armoured warrior for her outfit rather than soul diva. I think the team haven’t done a great job for her, and she is one of the actors I genuinely liked in S1. The choices made do lean it into the miss piggy look, if someone was being humorous about the flaws so I don’t think it’s fair to think this is something bigger than it is.

They should have given her straight ash coloured hair, or even black, and sorted out the cheek prosthetics. Maybe even had her have shorter hair to show it growing in. There’s no...coherency. Not least in the terrible colour choices on the dress too.

Since the S2 Disco Klingon Makeup is really the S1 Disco Klingon Makeup but toned down a little and with hair added, it's fair to criticize the makeup...

BUT that still doesn't cover some of the comments made here. I'm not going to single anyone out but, makeup or not, some of these comments are just plain sexist. There's no two ways about it.

So people can't comment on a fictional characters appearance?
