Favorite 'Little' Moments...

Farscape One

We all remember the big scenes... Kirk letting Edith Keeler die, watching Spock perform the mind meld for the first time, the Enterprise fighting the Planet Killer.

But those small scenes, or a few moments, are why we love this show. Moments that are reflective, thoughtful, or just plain funny. And there are so many of them.

I wanted to start a thread that appreciates all those littles nuggets of awesome sprinkled in those episodes.

What are your favorites, or ones that standout?

I will start.

"CATSPAW" - When Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are in chains, Kirk looks over and says his usual "Bones...", just as we see McCoy looking at a skeleton, and Kirk quickly just calling him "Doc." Every single time, that just gets me laughing. McCoy's expression was just priceless as he was looking at that skeleton and Kirk called him. That whole thing is just a second or two long, but it makes me smile and laugh every single time.

The Doomsday Machine: the stack of data tapes piled up on the auxilliary control helm station falls onto the floor when Constellation first lurches forward. A simple thing that really helps sell the scene.

The City on the Edge of Forever: by the end of the episode, Spock’s homebrew “frame grabber” has grown to be quite elaborate, you can see a pile of old radios in the corner of the room that he must have had to strip the parts out of to complete the build.

Where No Man Has Gone Before: Gary’s hair greying, likely due to the extreme stress his body was undergoing during his transformation.

His hair goes ungray when his moment ebbs for a minute (link), so I think the silver is just a spreading, otherwise why would his body revert?

"Tomorrow is Yesterday"
When the Air Police Sergeant interrogates Kirk, asking him what the little phaser prop is, he throws it to an MP. And when the phaser gets thrown, Kirk winces, bracing for disaster. It's a tremendous moment, but your eyes are on the phaser for the first 20 viewings of the episode so you miss it.

"Spock's Brain"
Watch at the end of the episode, when Spock is talking incessantly and McCoy jokes about reconnecting Spock's mouth. Just as the scene fades to the Enterprise leaving, Kirk cranks the remote control as if trying to shut Spock up. Hilarious. :)

Right!!! I just rewatched this one about a week ago - and in doing so I realized I hadn't seen it for about 10 years for whatever reason, so it was a real treat - and had completely forgotten about that. Great bit and perfectly acted by Shatner.

Also great was the coolly delivered line "Poor photography" by Spock as McCoy is (of course) losing his shirt in the background.

There are so many great little moments, but I rather like these:

1. When McCoy says "shut up Spock, we're rescuing you" in Immunity Syndrome and Spock replies, "why thank you, Captain McCoy".

2. When Spock explains the problem of removing the tribbles from their predator filled environment to one where their natural multiplicative proclivities would have no restraining factors and Cyrano Jones responds "but if cour-what'd you say?!"

3. The whole interplay between Spock and McCoy after watching the Captain's final orders in The Tholian Web, but in particular, the way Spock looks away and says "what would you have me say, Doctor?" (This is likely my fav. scene in the entire series).
