Spoilers Classic Race All But Confirmed

I honestly think you can interpret it either way.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it is woven in.

And...if they don't show the half-destroyed entry to the Talosian Community, I will riot like it's Festival.
Agreed. If they hadn't cleaned the joint up after thirteen years, then the place should still be a dump after only a couple.

The Talosians suck a repairing things. Just ask Vina.

I'm still scratching my head over that one. True, the Talosians had never seen a human before. But couldn't they just scan the Columbia's computer banks? Or even read Vina's mind? (The Talosians are such powerful telepaths that I'm sure they wouldn't need the target to be conscious when they read someone's mind...)

And besides, Talosians and humans aren't all that different, at least externally. They both have a head, two arms, two legs. Unless the Talosians are so far gone that they wouldn't know how to repair one of their OWN bodies, they should have been able to do a far better job on Vina.

Ah thanks. I can never remember when DSC is supposed to be set relative to the Pike era. I know it’s before TOS but it’s a bit more murky where the Cage is concerned.

Does the Cage even actually count as canon? Since it was never officially broadcast as a Trek episode proper (I.e. as part of the series)? I know the bits of the menagerie are canon because that was part of the actual show... but can we ignore the rest of the Cage since it wasn’t actually part of Star Trek once it was commissioned? I never liked the idea that the federation had a death penalty for anything if I’m honest.
The death penalty part was in "The Menagerie" anyway.

Starfleet had only one capital offense: General Order 7. Or General Order 4. I mix them up.

Federation member planets were free to use the death penalty, though. And pretty gruesome methods of execution at that. Argelius: death by slow torture, for example.

Deneb V made fraud punishable by death. Spock rattles off a list of possible final exits in “I, Mudd”.

Intriguingly, Kirk got M-5 to admit that the penalty for murder is death, suggesting that capital punishment is Federation law. Of course, the Feds aren’t exactly soft when it comes to non-lethal punishments. Twenty years in a rehabilitation colony for transporting tribbles seems a bit much.
Star Trek Humans might not like or have the death penalty on Earth but the rest of the Federation are not humans and have different cultural values. In universe the aliens are not humans with pointy ears, or humans with antennae and blue skin etc
I like the idea of other Federation worlds having values humans find alien because they are alien. (And I am anti death penalty in the real world).

"Are you going to visit any planets this season?
Alex Kurtzman: You will see a few planets this season, yes.

Are you visiting planets we’ve seen before?
Alex Kurtzman: Talos. We’re going to Talos."

Not sure how one can interpret that in any other way???
"Benedict Cumberbatch isn't Khan"

It was their choice to torpedo their credibility, and they deserve all the shit they get for it.
How does trying to keep a plot point a secret equal "torpedoing their credibility"? They don't owe us a point by point breakdown of the script/novel/comic/whatever prior to the product's release. They are allowed misdirection and out right lies to keep things under wraps. Fans need to stop being pouty babies demanding candy.

Ultimately Khan was manufactured. He's an augment, and there's no telling what his genetic mix might have been, regardless of his name.
Replying to myself as I must disagree vociferously with myself publicly and embarrassingly to point out that Faran Tahir should have been Khan. It would have been awesome to have Khan and Robau played by the same person.
