“Jean-Luc Picard is back”: will new Picard show eclipse Discovery?

Strange fellow. Unless I have to, I try not to think about the dune buggy at all. Good luck. XD

God, this is dorky. I put "dune buggy" into the search. I like Rambo Picard better.

This shot reminds reminds me of Back to the Future, Part III (which I think is an underrated movie).

Worf is just hanging out in the back, thinking to himself, "I came back for this?"

Ugh, it's bringing it all back. A real nadir and reason enough to bring back Patrick Stewart for a more fitting end to Jean-Luc Picard's story.

A Rambo with safety goggles though...

It's not a goalpost-shift if you keep using straw-man arguments to misrepresent the original statement.

"Dwayne Johnsons" FIRST APPEREANCE in a movie was "The mummy returns". And he really wasn't big in that. It was a famous-Wrestler-trying-to-break-into-acting cameo. And his cameo in VOY was even before that. That's WAY before the Rock became a famous actor no matter how you slice it.

And you keep to mangle, misrepresent and artificially misunderstand the original statements, just to be able to point out some "hypocrisy" you yourself created. Your essentially arguing against yourself at this point - your argument versus your strawman argument you try to assign to me. Stop doing that.
No. Before he became a film star is not the same as ALL CAPS WAY before he "got into" movies, to "get into" meaning to "enter," by the way. But I'm not saying anything more on this subject. If you had a point, it got lost in the hyperbole.

In any case, I was disappointed that all they managed to do with The Rock was have a gratuitous cameo, especially since it had been advertised on UPN that he would be appearing. One match with The Rock, and the rest of the episode was just another regular episode of Voyager with his character having no specific relevance.

Picard will be at home. He loves a good conference.

Also, at some point terrorists will board the enterprise and try to steal picard's saddle. He'll be forced into an episode which will be a die-hard in space, except without all the action, excitement, one-liners and a villain played by Alan Rickman. Picard will confront the leader of the terrorists in ten-forward (which was being set up for a networking brunch before the ship was evacuated) and engage in a brutal bout of rolling on the floor whilst struggling to gain possession of a weapon. Weird technobabble solution #891 will be used to prevent picard from getting his butt kicked.

Not the only time VOYAGER seemed to miss the point of their own episodes. If you're going to do an ep about an interplanetary drag race, give us an exciting drag race, don't make the ep all about Paris and B'Elanna's relationship issues, or Janeway holding a meeting to discuss the Prime Directive or whatever. If you're going to strand Chakotay and Seven on a jungle planet, let's have some thrilling jungle-planet action and steamy scenes around the campfire. It was almost as though the show sometimes thought that having too much fun with a gimmick episode was somehow beneath them . . ...

Live by the B plot, die by the B plot.

Nah, Picard will slap them down with Robert's Rules of Order.

They're gonna call it "The Picard & the Furious"

If they're starting shooting the Picard Series in April (link), I wonder if they'll launch it in Fall 2019? Then have DSC Season 3 in Winter 2020, a year after Season 2?

I sincerely hope the wait for Disco Season 3 isn't longer than the wait between S1 and S2.

Maybe that's our future: Seasons that last more than one year...

A slow metabolism (take the turtle for example) is the secret of longevity!

One question remains: Will it be action-packed?
No it will just be about Picard going from conference rooms to boring corporate networking brunches. But each week will bring us a new boring conference or networking brunch.

You know what? I'd watch that.
And probably enjoy more then someone "saving the entire mltiverse" by shooting the badguy and blowing up his supersized superweapon starship.
I like conferences.
