Donny’s Late TOS Movie Era Interiors

Anyway, that's 96,000 km/h or 0.009% of lightspeed. At full impulse power. Those main engines really do the lion's share of propulsion work!

I'm probably in the minority but I think they were on thrusters and batteries at this point. Earlier, Spock said they were only able to restore partial main power after auxiliary power (impulse) failed. And even then the partial main power was slower than Reliant's impulse power. Since Spock's damage report didn't include auxiliary power being repaired I believe the Enterprise didn't have impulse to escape with at the end.

Talk about a tangent! ;)

I know I've been a little quiet lately, so I'll fill you guys in on what's been going on.

A) We just released our first Discovery-era release on Star Trek: Online, so I've been very busy at work wrapping all that up.
B) As of yesterday, I have transferred fully to the the ship team for ST:O, so I'll be making exterior ship models exclusively instead of environments.
C) I recently got into Game of Thrones (finally) and that has quite consumed me. I've watched the entire series and am now reading the books. A new obsession other than Trek!

So, yeah. I've been busy, and have had to pause development of my personal projects just to stay sane for a minute with all the changes coming at work with the new position, on top of frantically pushing a release out the door. Can't wait to get back to work on the Ent-A bridge, just waiting until everything settles down a bit and I get in the swing of my new job.

Also, I should take a moment and say that, in light of Stage 9 being shut down, I am proceeding with extreme caution when talking about my projects from now on. These are my personal fan art projects, nothing more, and there will be no plans for a public release. Unfortunately pretty screenshots and videos are all that I plan on releasing from here on out :D I know this may disappoint some who were looking forward to an eventual release (although I've always been vague about eventually releasing anyway), but it would seem CBS has made it clear that they wouldn't allow it, and as someone who works on an official licensed product of CBS, I must respect their decisions.

Congrats @Donny! I understand your decision going forward regarding your project. It's a bummer but maybe in the future things could change. :)

But Spock was bluffing (or exaggerating) when he said "auxiliary power has failed". He probably meant that it was fully restored. "Main power" is warp power, which we know on the TMP Enterprise works alongside impulse.

I think they had repaired main power to the point that they had decent impulse power, but obviously no warp. The visual cues are there - the impulse exhaust glows red and the intermix shaft is happily swirling around.

If they were just on thrusters in the nebula, Reliant would have caught them rapidly. They also probably wouldn't have had phaser power, as Scotty previously said batteries were only good for a couple of shots.

...

B) Congratulations on the job-change (does moving from multi-discipline to a single one count as a promotion?).

C) I look forward to following your efforts to model the whole of Westeros!!!!!

There's a group that's been building Westeros in Minecraft for the past several years. Looks amazing. Unfortunately, since MS bought it they screwed it all up and I can't use it anymore without giving them a credit card first. Quite depressing. I was building a 1:1 scale Yamato in Minecraft that I can't get to anymore.

So yes, an interactive Westeros by Donny would be fantastic. IIRC, GRRM said that the continent is about the same size as South America, so I suspect most of us will either be in retirement homes or dead by the time Donny finishes it.

Ha! While I most certainly won’t be modeling the entirety of Westeros, I am considering modeling some medieval/fantasy props while I’m obsessed with GoT just to round out my portfolio a bit.

Moving to the ship team is not a promotion per se, although I do think a general promotion may be coming my way soon ;-)

Many a true work spoken in jest haha

Without wanting to tempt the Wrath of the Whatever from high atop the Thing, If your work for them is anywhere near what you show us, then it'll be well deserved. :)

And GRRM still won't be done with The Winds of Winter

I gave up half way through A Dance With Dragons. GRRM seriously needs a better editor.

This is going to be a crawl. At this rate, I'm getting one screen done each night (with two color variants). Oof. It may be a month before I get all the screens done, and these first two are fairly simple. Just wait until I have to do the actual video screens.

But here's one of my favorite of the TUC-era LCARS screens:
