MLB World Series 2018: Eh. Dodgers/Boston. Eh.

Any particular reason why the championship games are so late at night? The ALCS and NLCS games don't even start until almost midnight (according to this page, the ALCS and NLCS games are both scheduled to begin at 11:33 EDT).

That has to be a typo. espn.com still has TBA for all the CS games. I couldn't even see 11:33PM EST for a west coast game.

Yeah, can’t be right. They aren’t passing up on prime time and the entire east coast; especially if an east coast team may be playing

I just exchanged DMs with MLB.TV's support account and they say the ALCS/NLCS start times have yet to be determined.

Wish they'd just have said that all along... :sigh:

I need the Red Sox/Yankees to go to a 5th game and whoever wins totally wears out their pitching staff. :)

Red Sox bring in Sale as a reliever instead of saving him in case they lose game 4.

Edit: Na na na na... na na na na.... hey hey hey...

That Sox pitcher looks like he's doing a chicken imitation when eyeing the catcher. I actually find that both irritating and funny.

Sox did everything they could to lose in that last inning but just fell short of collapsing completely. Oh well, Boston vs Houston ALCS it is.

No real risk with Sale (other than freak injury I guess), he'd have been due for a bullpen session anyway, so they decided to use him here. A little more high leverage, but it's a risk/reward play to try and lock up the lead yesterday rather than not run out your best and hope you don't blow it and need a game 5. Loved how he looked, though, just dominant and almost bored, mowed them down without even showing much interest!

Kimbrel's hanging arm thing is stupid. Not intimidating, doesn't seem to help, or loosen up his arm, or get him in a position to throw, etc. He's stuck with it being his 'thing', i guess, but as far as that goes, much preferred Papelbon just giving the batter crazy eyes for a couple seconds. Although he's nuts, so I guess he was just looking at them ;)

9th inning definitely added some stress, was pretty sure Sanchez had won it on that one and we were going to play for game 5. At least Sale would have been there for it, but then you lose him for Game 1 if you win, so would have been costly.

Still not looking past the Astros, but remains entertaining that with the way the playoffs work, every team the Sox face if they win the world series would have had fewer wins than the series before. usually playoffs should lead to the best teams, but the bracket this year leads down the tree instead of up it. Uneven leagues/divisions, so means nothing really, just entertaining from a numbers perspective.

Boone...

I thought Sanchez did it....

I would have subbed Anduhar for Torres in the 9th... our best clutch bat was not in the line-up.

Stanton's (Cashman's biggest blunder since Ells) at bats were pitiful... in the 9th, he buckled on a medicore curve ball, the waved at 2 pitches that were never strikes.

I, unlike most in this rivalry, root for the remaining AL East team. Good luck Sox.

Yeah, that got a little too interesting in the 9th inning.

Given the current Vegas odds, Dodgers might actually be best bet. Sox and Astros are more likely to win, but I’d take 3:1 on them over 2:1 on two teams playing each other,

Stanton's (Cashman's biggest blunder since Ells)

wat

Stanton, despite nagging injuries, managed to put together a 126 OPS+ this season, and he's always been a streaky player. To judge him on, what, six games, is paying attention to small-sample-size statistical noise instead of the facts.

I've seen 99% of his at bats this year...

His line in the ALDS: 4-for-18, zero RBIs, zero homers, six strikeouts, two runs scored, zero walks. He looked uncomfortable in the box vs Boston.

But hey, what do you pay 25 mil a year for?

The battle he's gonna fight with Yankees fans/press is we didn't want/need him to begin with. We were very happy with our young guns, both on the team and in the wings.

... and I'm not a Stanton hater (unlike A-Rod). I like the guy, he seems legit - not an asshole... But when you're an average fielder at best, getting that kind of cash in NY...

On the flip side, Sanchez all but erases his '18 whoa's... he decided to wake up in the play-offs... he also for the most part looked like a real catcher behind the plate too.

Maybe the pitching staff shouldn't have coughed up 16 runs in one game.

Certainly.

"It" was looking good splitting in Boston... but our "ace" stunk and our old work-horse was left in too long with a rested bullpen in game 4.
