News Season 2 poster released, January release confirmed

Are the Klingons and Romulans being allies canon? I always thought that was fan theory

Technically not. Spock only said Romulans were now using Klingon designs in "The Enterprise Incident". That would suggest partnership but not necessarily an alliance. Or more an alliance of convenience, possibly, since the Romulans weren't bound by The Organian Peace Treaty.

And when they don't?

Life will go on? Most people who read the post understood I was being over-the-top. Though it doesn't change the fact that someone either at CBS or within the writing staff loves fanwank.

Yeah, I got that. I just like taking OTT posts down to earth. Call it a character flaw.:p
I doubt CBS cares about fanwank especially the type of stuff the writers toss in DISCO.

Although behind-the-scenes info pointed to a Romulan-Klingon alliance in TOS season 3, it was only stated on screen that Romulans were using Klingon ship design. Nothing was said about the relationship between the two powers. For all we know, Romulan spies could have stolen the battlecruiser design.

But Klingons and Romulans being at least nominal allies at some point is definitely in the canon.
As Worf stated in TNG's The Neutral Zone:
chakoteya.net said:
Captain, these are Romulans. They are without honour. They killed my parents in an attack on Khitomer when they were supposed to be our allies. They believe humans and Klingons are a waste of skin.

Kor

Not in the quantity on display in Discovery.
Every iteration has had fan service. I can live with Discovery's amounts because it feels like what Trek has done before. Obviously, mileage will vary and all that. But, good grief, there's "Sarek" "Trials and Tribble-ations" "Generations" "In a Mirror Darkly" "Flashback" and that's just off the top of my head.

And that's not counting name drops.

You say that like it's a bad thing.
Depends on how it is handled. In my opinion one of Enterprise's strongest episodes "Terra Prime" is in that season with a great reference to Colonel Green. It worked within the confines of the world and also made sense in terms of characterization.

The Augments? Eh...mixed bag.

As for the poster -- which I find a Hell of a lot more interesting than talking about "fanwank" again -- and the alteration to it here...

It's a phoenix.

If the original poster has what implies a Pheonix in it, then what's rising from the ashes? It could be the Federation rising from the ashes of war. Discovery rising from the ashes of Lorca. Some other type of ascension?

Culber returns bigger than ever. The centerpiece of the season. The centerpiece of the promotional artwork.

Red with rage? "Kill Ash Tyler!" Or Holier Than Thou? "I forgive Ash Tyler and you must too, Paul. Turn the other cheek!"

Heh...
Bad joke in there...

IF their relationship is anything like some of the ones I had when dating guys in my younger years, one of them has been "turning the other cheek" quite often.
:evil::devil::evil: .... :whistle:

^ That joke's not just a double entendre but a triple. Jesus turns the other cheek, I turn the other cheek at the bashers, and then, yeah... ;)

I can totally see that. Particularly if they take advantage of Culber's gleaming white medical uniform and have him in an arms-open pose. This shit's writing itself.
