MLB World Series 2018: Eh. Dodgers/Boston. Eh.

So the Rockies (along with the Cubs) are relegated to the "win and you're in" one game wild card. Here's how I see the whole thing shaking out:

NY Yankees def. Oakland
Chicago def. Colorado

Boston def. NY Yankees in 4
Houston def. Cleveland in 5
Milwaukee def. Chicago in 4
LA Dodgers def. Atlanta in 4

Houston def. Boston in 6
Milwaukee def. LA Dodgers in 7

World Series 2018 - Milwaukee Brewers vs Houston Astros
And the series goes to the Brew Crew in 7 games!!

I think more likely a Boston LA World Series, with Boston winning in 5.

And I'll be surprised if my Cubs can even beat Colorado right now since they're back in hibernation. Maybe we can borrow Khalil Mack to intimidate the Rockies.

Serious question: is Maddon managing for his job in 2019 if the Cubs lose the WC game?

He should be, but ownership loves him. He's a good manager, but needs to control his stranger instincts a little better.

Let's be fair, in 2015 & 2016 he was great outside of some strange decisions in the WS.

In 2017 & 2018 I think his "mad lineup scientist" mindset has led to more offensive slumps than can be blamed on just the hitting coaches. Batters are kinda ritualistic in that they like to know where they'll be hitting. Joe keep fiddling with the batting order so much, I feel that leads to the problems we've seen here the last 2 years.

Most of the time it isn't that the other team is scoring a ton of runs, it's that we can't score more than one or two.

I'm not sure I believe in "the other team wanted it more", but as intagibles go, Milwaukee has sure played like a more motivated team the last month and the Cubs and their 2nd best team BA can't buy a couple extra runs when they need them.

The Phillies had similar issues in the second half, which is why they played so poorly in August and September. In their case, a lack of talent probably necessitated some of Kapler’s tinkering with the lineup, so I’m hopeful that things will change if they can sign Machado and/or Harper.

In any case, I agree about baseball players being creatures of habit and am amazed that some managers are comfortable moving players all over the lineup seemingly at random. I suppose they’re trying to find marginal advantages wherever they can, but needless lineup shuffling seems to undermine such advantages.

Since we are on predictions...

OAK over NYY
CHC over COL

OAK over BOS in 5
CLE over HOU in 5
MIL over CHC in 5
ATL over LAD in 5

CLE over OAK in 7
ATL over MIL in 7

CLE over ATL in 7

Sure, there's always some changes to a batting order. A guy heats up, he gets moved up in the order, etc. And to some extent, the actual order is not as important as it's made out to be.

The lead off hitter may only lead off an inning once, then who knows where he hits the next time, so I don't get the importance of that outside of consistency for that batter.

Doesnt even matter who wins what series. I think the Red Sox lose one other two games the whole postseason.

Lester is going to have to go long for the Cubs to stand a chance. Their bullpen is toast.

...a five-pitch walk to open the game isn't a good start.

Oh, boy, we're going into extra innings with Maddon prepared to use Hamels and Hendricks out of the bullpen.

Yup, bad call by myself there. Oh well, Cubbies are out, and no tears from me on that. Brewers and Rockies it is!

Yeah, I didn't think they would win tonight either but they did better than I expected.

...which isn't saying much.

The Yankees announce Severino is the starter tonight.

Could be interesting, but I like the choice. This is something he's got to make it through. I don't expect him to me as wound up nervous as he was last year.

The A's are "starting the reliever"... great year by them and I expect a much better game than the Twinkies gave us last year.

Speaking about the Twinkies.... the fired Paul Molitor? .... are you kidding me? .... they should fire the front office.

Well, I'll be on pins and needles tonight for sure. Could be 100 and out, but I don't think so. The stadium will be rockin....

Break - break....

Andujar for AL Rookie of the year!! Beating Joey D's rookie doubles record is pretty damn impressive. What a hitter.... he doesn't look at pitches he can hit and hits the ball where it's pitched. I wish we could clone him.
