Seems to be an improvement in the animation and artwork. Be interesting to hear/see how Saki Todo turns out.

Are you sure..?

The female uniforms have looked consistently spray-painted on in all the incarnations of Yamato. Fanboy hormones aside, most everyone in the armed forces of the Yamato uniform are very fit, at least until you become a bearded old captain or ship's doctor, so why bother with pants that can ride up if you dont' have to? And to be fair, the male fighter pilots have similarly skin-tight outfits.

Spoilers of course
Yamato gets another refit after her ordeal. Yamato is getting add-ons: New radar array. Redone main turrets. Added defensive guns. Two additional catapults, and a few other new systems that are not quite identified yet. It seem all the remaining major Earth warships have major damage at this point and they are making repairs as best they can away from Earth. Both Ginga and Yamato are getting hull repairs. the Andromeda types: Aldebaran and Antares are both badly mauled in the image, but still around. The rest of the ships looks fine, if maybe a little weathered. And there are Gamilas ships with them still (including possibly the Gamilas run Apollo Norm-class Neu Bulgrey in the clouds just under Yamato's bow, mostly obscured by the cruisers and makeshift docks.)

Ginga almost seems like a ship of the Valkyries.

Very cool! Shades of some of the fan art I remember seeing of upgraded Yamato's many years ago. Strange how they have Greek letters on the disc case. Wouldn't have expected that.

First 11 or so minutes of Episode 19 are up as a preview for Chapter Six, which will be in (Japanese) theaters starting November 2nd.

Oh there will be a lot of things different this time around

Well if the trailer is anything to go by, it looks like the Andromeda and the rest of the EDF ships won't survive their kamikaze run on Gatlantis citadel.
It might be that the loss of the Andromeda gives the crew of the Yamato the idea to attack the underside of the citadel.
Shame really, I was kind of hoping they would change things up a bit and have her survive, albeit heavily damaged.

You never know. I mean so far this has been the first version of Yamato where the third bridge and its crew survived intact, so they could throw a curve ball in here too - you never know. ;)

They've been pretty careful to stay away from wholesale third bridge destruction in this version of the show, as opposed to the original where it seemed to fall off every third episode. Hell, it even blew up and killed a main guest character in the uninspired (IMO) movie Resurrection!

Very glad they aren't using that unintentionally funny in-joke in this version.
