Star Trek: Short Treks

They’d be better off selling to existing networks. They have very little brand recognition here.
I've tried to make that point to a lot of people on Facebook. CBS really is not known outside USA. They would be better off just calling their service All Access. When searching for "CBS europe" in Google I get for example Christian Bible Study, Copenhagen Business School and some random Italian electronics manufacturer.

They have a couple of channels buried down the list in the UK, but it’s very far down the list. I don’t think they would do well. They had more recognition as Paramount ironically, probably because of the golden years of Cheers, Trek, Frasier etc all being very successful imports through the nineties.

CBS isn't some obscure brand in the UK, they have four top performing digital TV channels, one of which regularly gets 1 million plus viewers daily. Also their websites are popular in the UK - GameSpot and Cnet are just as big in London as they are in New York.

I’m in the UK, and I had no idea those websites are anything to do with CBS. Those channels are rerun central, roughly on a par with the horror channel at best. I don’t know what demographic they aiming for, but it wouldn’t matter...the channels that are mainstream here are still the big four, plus sky. Five is making some inroads since it launched...Watch and Gold are also big on advertising. The CBS channels are stumble acrosses. Most of the American Network channels here are, apart from Maybe MTV and Comedy Central. London Live is probably pulling about the same as CBS.

That's fine, but most people regularly browsing the sites know they are CBS brands.

True but they've built a brand to work from. When CBS AA launches in the UK (which has already been announced, so not sure why this is even being debated) it has something to work from. It has a loyal audience to tap into and expand from. CBS also do a lot of stuff for BBC, they have a partnership for news media. Also for many people that live in big cities in the UK, they will remember CBS for their billboards too.

It's a known brand. That's basically my point.

The CBS channels pull in around 140,000 viewers in primetime every day. For their original series, that figure doubles. It's not as big as Sky One or ITV2, but they are some of the bigger channels on digital TV, and very popular with advertisers. That's how and why CBS is commissioning 5+ original series and 20+ first run shows next year, and stepping away from reruns.

I stand by to be amazed then.
Though I doubt I will pay for AA in the Uk, and the safe money says it will be rolled into Now TV or sky or similar.

Runaway looks interesting, nice to see some alien shenanigans. Also what is up with weird gunk landing on Tilly's shoulders? First a mycelial spore and then a drop of Alien goop.

Ah okay, if it's not true then okay. I thought the titular runaway was meant to be a Klingon that's escaped from her House.
