Captain Marvel (2019)

I’m going to create expectations about the plot based on my own speculation, when the movie fails to follow my plot I’m going to get so angry I send death threats to the cast and gleefully hope for failure out of spite for not being what I as a single human wanted.

No, that would just be silly.

I wonder if Marvel might ever consider changing the genders of any of the major characters they've yet to put on film. For example, I'm a big fan of Nova and I hope they have plans to make a movie based on that character, but I don't see any particular reason why Nova needs to be male just because he was in the comics. Bring on Rachel Rider, I say.

(Cue the fanboy outrage in 3...2...)

Did Mary Marvel ever try to become "Captain" Marvel, because she felt like a second class Superhero, like Carol did?

Oh.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia checked this last week. Caitlin Olsen redid an old episode, How Wade Boggs can drink 80 beers on a continental plane trip, but with all women to prove that women are better than men...

They're all called "Shazam", now.

That would be interesting to see (and not just the fanboy outrage). I know very little about Nova aside from a handful of 90s Spider-Man issues he appeared in. I think a gender-swapped Darkhawk would be cool to see. I liked that character from the few issues I've seen him in (again, Spidey ones).

There’s been enough gender swapping in the tv/movie business already. :)
No, there hasn't. Even with the limited gender swapping that has occurred, television and film is still heavily male-dominated. More female roles are definitely needed.

More Unique female identities, and less re-purposed male identities.

As much as I love She-Hulk, for fucks sake that name is derivative.

I get two results on pornhub from "Shazam" and neither of them are relevant.

I sniggger when I see advertising for "Beat Shazam" the Gameshow.

That's nonsense. There's plenty of female shows and movies out there.

1941 - 1939 = 2 years.

Pretty effective, considering there was a war on.

Although, during the entire reign of the MCU and DCCU, America has been at war too.

Different sorts of wars, I suppose?

Frick.

The Wikipedia says that Billy's middle name is Joseph, and his sister's name is Mary.

Weird.

Naming your kids after a married couple.

The point is if Captain Marvel was killing Nazis instead of making movies, WWII would have been over before Christmas... Yes, the spear of destiny... Greek God Magic trumps Jesus Magic?

In the usual Guy Gardener conflation, Captain Marvel played Captain Marvel in the movies. (Well in Guy's world I guess)
Did Earth-S Hitler have the Spear of Destiny???

I mean we provided equipment and material. A few American also joined various Allied militaries.
The Flying Tigers in Asia and the Eagle Squadrons in Europe come to mind. Both volunteer forces because prior to Pearl Harbor, the American people had no interest in getting involved in the war.
