Ethan Peck cast as DSC's Spock

Fans back then just assumed every single starfleet ship looked like the Enterprise since that was the only class we ever saw.

Wasn't the Farragut listed as one of the 12 original Constitution class vessels in The Making of Star Trek? Not that it makes it canon, but...

Rather they made it a TOS era ship, like the ones shown in Star Trek Online if it isn’t a Connie.
They’re not going to go against their established asthetic that soon. Not that drastically anyways.

If they were to show the Farragut it will either be one of the classes in the show already (including the Connie) or something new that follows the asthetic.

Somebody probably already expressed this sentiment, but I don't feel like reading the last nine pages of posts...

Spock needs to be smiling and YELLING ALL THE TIME! :D :scream: :vulcan:

They already are slightly if you watch the trailer. The Discovery’s hull looks more silver and the red on the bussard collectors is more noticeable.

Would be curious if they take that Discovery novel into account. There it goes into why he’s more human like and by the end, he’s more comfortable and starts acting more Vulcan.
I know it’s unlikely but who knows? We’ll some find out with a few lines of dialogue.

They’d have the option of using the existing connie model they’ve built for the Enterprise or having it be one of the many other classes we’ve seen on DSC so far then - I’m not sure which option I prefer now that I think about it.

I don’t think they ever stated he was part of the Bridge crew. It’s certainly possible though.

Kirk was a “Phaser gun crew member” according to memory-Alpha
He could have been working the phasers from the bridge in that case I guess. But maybe he was down in the phaser control room instead? Maybe that motivated Kirk to become a captain rather than his dad Thor being killed? It’d be great to see Kirk as he’s depicted in Kelvin but going through something like the vampire cloud on the Farragut and that makes him shape up into the by the book officer he was in TOS - I know he was a nerd at the academy, but what if he relaxed a little by the time he got aboard the Farragut? And Kirk blamed the Farragut incident on what he perceives to be his immaturity and resolved to change?

Kirk’s Dad was never killed in the Prime timeline. Prime Spock says he was alive to see Kirk become captain of the Enterprise

He was his science officer I believe.
If the character outlines from the original pitch and the first pilot are to be believed, Spock was the ship's "FIrst Lieutenant"
The Captains's right hand man. The working level commander of all the ship's functions-ranging from manning the bridge to supervising the lowliest scrub detail

We got most of the crew re-cast. Are we all still sure we are watching Star Trek Discovery?
Don't know. Haven't seen the second season. They could could be just guest-stars in a multiple episodes with the focus on the DISCO regulars.

He looks fine. The proof will be in the performance.

Spock serving with Pike for 11 years does not necessarily indicate that either didn’t have a side mission or two that took either or both of them away from Enterprise for a month or two. To think that something like that didn’t happen over 11 years. Ever. Is simply trying to discredit something because it doesn’t perfectly match your version of TEH CANNON!!!!1!!!!!

And, as always, in regards to strictly sticking with canon to the point that no new interesting tale could be told:

Just bring on the Pike series already. I'm more excited about Pike, Spock, Number One and the Enterprise than I am about anything Discovery. Although I hate prequels I always wondered what happened on the Enterprise prior to Kirk. It was in service for 20 years by the time he took command.

In truth, we don't really know all that much about the back stories of most of the TOS cast. We never found out how Kirk and McCoy met and became such good friends, anything about Uhura, Scotty or Sulu prior to their first appearances or even how Spock and Kirk became so close. If a prequel had to be made I sure as hell would've preferred to see that instead of Discovery.

Bring on Pike's Enterprise and we can have all that. End the series with Kirk taking command and sync it all up with TOS. That's what a real prequel is supposed to be. Not Discovery with its tenuous links to TOS.

It will be tough. He has to Use his voice and mannerisms as Nimoy did . Also his control may only falter under highly stressful conditions. We do not need another Spock like Quinto.s version.
We'd be damn lucky to get another Spock like Quinto's.

And this guy doesn't have to do anything in such a way as to suit every fan of the old versions. He's entitled to his own interpretation of what's written for him.
